Interesting video, Dave! Conclusion of "size your turbo(s) right and there's little difference between twins and a single"

Episode 11 of Garry's Garage is live! I didn't realise at the time that this was the start of quite a large rabbit hole I have led myself down!

Definitely do a pressure test in my opinion! Major issues will show themselves before you reach any kind of significant pressure. Without doing this, you'll not know if you're chasing your tail looking at other symptoms. Stick your bung into the rubber hose coming from the Y piece to the intercooler. Most common leaks are intercooler, plastic intake elbow, recirculating blow off valve, throttle body, intake plenum, and injector seals.

While you're there, replace the plenum gasket the final time you do up the bolts after helicoiling. Over the years of this being taken off and put back on, this gasket has likely been crushed, especially if someone has tried tightening up the plenum bolts so much that they've stripped the threads. Once you've sorted this air leak, disconnect the battery to reset the long term fuel trims, then see what happens again. You should find the oscillation on the narrowband between 0.1v (lean) and...

Don't drill & tap one size up - get a set of helicoils to give you a replacement thread of the correct size. Do all of them while you're at it, you only want to do the job once!

The narrowband oscillating like that is good - that means it's working properly to maintain the stoichiometric ratio for the current fuel blend. Remind us what wideband do you have, please?

What air filter have you fitted? Hopefully a new panel filter in the original air box, and not a cone one!

It's a filter and/or one way valve. This bleeds off the vacuum feed to the FPR during hot restarts to raise fuel pressure to aid cranking by opening the solenoid valve to atmosphere.

There is no MAP sensor. The ECU does NOT measure boost or AFR (other than the narrowband, which is used only during part-throttle). All fuelling information comes from the MAF measuring the airflow accurately. The ECU has compensation for inlet air temperature and barometric pressure to determine fuelling. If your fuelling has suddenly changed, then it's a mechanical issue - start with the simple and "can suddenly change" things - an exhaust leak, a loose vacuum hose, a different air...
