if we had the option of E85 we would all have the option of more power. E85 will stop knock. but need a gasket/seal changes to E85 safe seals. and a flex fuel sensor so you can use normal petrol and E85 . but this is a different topic.

yeh, as long as the turbo/turbos are size correctly there does not seem to be that much difference, apart from correctly sized twins seem to handle the back pressure issue a little better but go to big on the twins and spool suffers. even if they revatively smaller than the big single. i would love to have a definitive answer to the CFM flow of our heads and the flow at different valve lift that would go along way to suggesting what the max power would be with the correctly sized turbos. ...

there will be no direct route through the cylinder for the pressure to escape, unless you are really unlucky and set the engine to a position where you are right on the overlap between the exhaust valve closing and inlet valve opening, but i don't think our engines have the cam timing setup to run lots of valve overlap so you will be OK. Either the cylinders will have the exhaust valves open and inlet closed or inlet valves open and exhaust closed or both sets of valves closed. so pressure...

a narrow band will constantly switch from rich to lean about the stoic point when the car is running normally. if you artificially create a vacuum leak at idle the narrow band will show lean constantly and the long term and short term fuel trims will come into play and gradually add more and more fuel to bring the AFR back to stoic even with the leek. as the fuel trims do there thing and adjust the fueling the narrow band out will show you the output going from constant max lean back towards...

Ok all, so i have finished panting the parts, i wish i had not started paining anything other than the block. because anything factory finish i put up against the painted parts just looks a bit crap and unfinished. i have to stop some where and i draw the line at bolts. these do not need to be painted or finished or polished. that would be insane on any car other than a show car and this car is no show car it is a daily driver and i must keep that in mind otherwise it turn into a project that...

I had to Heli coil one of my plenum to inlet manifold connection. It is very easy to do, you just have to be careful with what you are doing especially when you snap off the screw in tang. Sent from my MI 5s using Tapatalk

So from an electrical point of view the injectors being triggered correctly if you can see the pulsing. But it does not mean the injectors are actually opening and closing. This opening and closing is quite loud with a sharp tick tick tick as they are firing. So you can get a screw driver and put it on the top of each injector and put you ear to the screwdriver handle and listen to the injector fire. Sorry this would have probably been an easier thing to do than measure all the voltages. But...

Did you open up the outlet holes in the stock manifolds at all they are very small. I was thinking it might help the exhaust flow. There is quite a lot of metal that could be removed to make the hole bigger. Sent from my MI 5s using Tapatalk

I think TPS should be 96% wot and 7% closed. If you have removed the plenum recently and the issues started after you refitted. It is very easy to trap a wire under the plenum and cause a vacuum leak. I two different methods to leak check a vr4 inlet pipework. 1. Use a smoke machine. Attach it to brake booster nlet on back of plenum and pump smoke in and see where it comes out. 2. Pressure test the inlet pipework, but only from the out put of the turbo compressor exit after the Y...

From the factory I think there is a waxy paper plug on top of the cross head screw. If it has never been adjusted in the past. But I have tried to adjust the bist screw on an old vr4 of mine and it turned to dust and had to be picked/dug out with a small fine screwdriver . You then have to buy a new one and realise that the screw is made out of some kind of 1940's wonder material bakolite. Which turns to dust on its 7th birthday.

RXWPN Hi justin, what manifolds are you using for this setup. complete custom, modified originals or complete standard originals? i remember this thread you did. not much detail from the pipe on the exact pipework. i believe the exhaust manifold output ran under the car and joined at the front by the turbo and then the exhaust downpipe whet back under the car to the normal exhaust location. how is the tuning going on it did you reach your targets? am i right in thinking you converted you...

well that idle is not normal. 650 rpm at idle in neutral 600rpm in D and the rpm rises when the A/C is turned on to combat the additional load put on the engine when the a?C compressor starts up. i don't think you should be worried about the AFR's you should sort out the Idle first. what are you doing to artificially raise the idle? are you just tightening the throttle cable?

is there a temp releated compensation table in the ECU that will change the AFR? i am not sure but there are lots of temp compensation table inthe ECU. just a thought. to be fair i would have suggested that the ECU has been reflashed at some pint to lean out the AFR's as i can think of what would make all your AFRs lean on a regular basis. apart from an ECU reflash.

when i have finished the painting of the raw aluminium parts in the engine bay it will only be the the heads and gearbox that are not painted. i am not painting them a different colour i just want the metal work under the bonnet to stop oxidising/corroding when they get salty wet. so hopefully all the painted parts will look aluminium ish.

if iftekhar.frt had post up the AFR numbers in the first post and said what is wrong, i would have said you are running lean in all instances compared to factory standard setting by a 1 or 2 AFR's. but you are saying this is normal and AFR you have now which look normal to me are actually rich. so you see why people are asking the questions they. you car was not running factory standard AFR's originally so some must have been done to the car to make it run leaner. if you can pinpoint what...

    Hey Dave,

Ecu came the other day, but it wasn't in good condition... it was in awesome condition! Anyway thanks so much for being so generous again. Can you remember if it was from a manual or an auto?

    Thanks
