The problem is most people just replace all the pipe work without even considering there may be restictors in there for a reason. hence the issues boost control that people have

I think i have found the answer, to the question. the toothed wheel that passes through the crank sensor and causes a signal to be registered is pegged to the back of the crank timing pulley with spring steel dowels and the spacer is attached to the back of the toothed wheel on the end of the pegs/dowls that stick out of the back. hence the 2 holes in the spacer as you can see in the picture. so when you remove the timing pulley from the crank you actually removing 3 item that are fixed...

Hi guys, came accross this and i dont have one of these fitted to my engine and i never seen one fitted to a 6A13TT engine. Timing belt spacer I am hoping this is an error in the online parts catalogue for our 6a13TT engine.

Hmm, that is interesting. this might be the reason why some people struggle setting up the boost control. the wastegate actuators are getting overwhelmed by the volume of boosted air being forced down the pipes, the boost solenoid has difficulty bleeding off the volume of air it is seeing. i am sure i bought a load of boost pills a good few years back with the intension of trying to see what difference it made to my cars boost control. but i have a 3 port solenoid and it should not be...

Hi All, i have never found one in any boost control pipe work i have looked at. but i have not owned a VR4 from new so any of the previous owner could have removed it for some reason. the restrictor pill is designed to limit the volume of boosted air that actually goes to the boost solenoid and the wastegate actuators. It does not limit the boost pressure getting there just the volume. so when the boost solenoid bleeds off some of the pressure it is not immediately replaced by more...

hi saf, as long as the rods and pistons are in good condition and the rod bolts, rings and bearings are included then i will take the pistons and rods. i know the rings and bearing would not normally be usable on a different engine but would like to see what has been used in your build and the condition of them. what size are the pistons diameter? do the cylinders need to bored to accept them or are they factory sized. what are the conrod big end bores, are they the same as factory? ...

Hi Saf, here is something that has always puzzled me, why is there a metal bump in the cylinder head chamber? i can imagine it is a casting mark, but why has it not be flattened down before the heads are skimmed in the factory. surely it is a sharp edge and source of detonation. i have seen heads where there is shape cast in the cylinder chamber that is supposed to premot swirl in the chamber and mixes the petrol and air better to get fuller burn. buti don't think these metal bumps...

Yes there is a mark on the cam shaft. i found it after my first engine rebuild. Note i say after. lol. i fitted the cam in my first engine completely the wrong way round all intaKe and exhaust in the wrong position so the engine tried to fire the exhaust out of the air filter. but no damage done as the timing was correct so the inlet valves were open when the exhaust should have been. rooky mistake. but back to the mark question. the mark is a very small stamp on the opposite end of the...

Hereis a toptip for welding on a car. make sure the glass is covered so you dont shower it with sparks from welding or grinding. if you don't cover the glass then the molton metal will melt in it and burn into the glass, and be a permanent addition to the glass. i used cheap fire blankets i picked up in the range. i know this because the side window of my house now has little beads of molton metal in the surface of the window for ever more. LOL

can you give some idea on the parts cost? what did you have done and how much did all the machining work cost? this is what i intend to do on my next engine build, standard crank, stronger Pistons and rods and bigger turbos. when you say jetting are you referring to the oil squirters directed to the bottom of pistons and cylinder bores. or are you talking about the oil feed for the turbos. i presume you will be using 6a13TT heads. do you have any porting work on the heads for a...

well that is a very good sign that the strut brace went back on and lined up. i think if i replace the entire strut tops at any point i would follow you lead and fit the strut brace before welding started along with spot welds lining up. i might see if there is option to have a reinforcement set of parts that can be welded on the outside of the strut top like they have for rally cars requirements. mind you the inside of the front of the rear wheel arch is another prime location for...

nice lot of welding there. this is what most people strut tops will be looking like, just a thin skin of paint holding things together. :D where did you get you donor strut tops from? You have to be really careful removing that much metal ian one small misalignment and the suspension mounting point can through off your top arm geometry. the alignment of the suspension top mount does not really matter as we have double wishbone suspension the suspension strut only does the spring and...
