https://www.clubvr4.com/forum/content.php?177-Reading-the-VR-4-s-Diagnostic-Codes-The-Flashy-Dash-Technique Very few code readers work properly on the VR4. Almost none. The only thing I trust for diagnostic codes is the flashy dash technique.

No! The green lights should stop working when the red light comes on. The red light indicates a fault with the system - the system then stops shifting power around so no green lights. The red light should have no link to the temperature of the engine either, other than the system can sometimes stop working due to the pump being tired and warm oil not pressurising so easily. However the timing of the red light and the engine temp should be nothing more than coincidental. Have you tried...

10 years ago a bespoke stainless cat back was cheaper than the dealer part from Mitsubishi. I'm out of touch with current prices though.

I suspect there is a system glitch! It was flagged up to the admin guys by another moderator before I got here, so hopefully sorted soon.

2nd column third row was exported. However in the background you can see a certain Fridge that is still alive. Quite amusing that the only car I know is still on the road there is not a VR4!

Not sure where you got 7g from Dave? But yes, changing FWD to 4WD is tricky due to floor changes. I'd also like to disagree with the MPG. Very few owners get 25mpg round town. Most of us get more like 18mpg. Some in the past have quoted 15/16mpg. I'd say expect 16 and be happy with any extra.

It's a tricky question to be honest. Trying to find a specialist that knows a car so rare is not easy! Spongy brakes could be as simple as old fluid or old flexi pipes. If the hard pipes are heavily corroded to the point they are affecting performance then they will be leaking and your brakes will stop working quickly. Speedo could be as simple as a kph/mph converter. The alarm fault is only an insurance worry if the car still works.

I'm not sure I have any photos - will check. I bought one a year ago from Amayama. Not cheap and not quick, but nice to have a new one in there to reduce the chances of dash out again!

I agree. Tyre pressure/tread wear is most likely the cause.

I'd take that info with a pinch of salt. Not saying they are wrong, but the auto 8th gen VR4 has a W5A51 gearbox, not a W4A. I have never seen a VR4 shred it's torque converter splines, whereas I have seen two damage their wave springs. It is possible the n/a FWD V6 uses the W4A gearbox and some of those do shred t/c splines but the issue was designed out on later cars as I understand. As far as I know the open port 2.0 shoulld connect to all VR4 ECUs, but the earlier ones (yours is very...

What's your chassis number? EC5A 040xxxx or 050xxxx? To my knowledge, those ages do not have a speedo feed on the gearbox - they use shaft sensors to determine gear ratio and speed to pulse the speed signal. I have never auto converted one that young, so I have not got first hand experience, but I heard that you need to wire in cables to near the ecu. /edit although reading your post again you say the manual box sensor is only two pin? I've never modified the loom where the auto box had...

/Welcome First thing is the gearbox fluid. Spec and level. The spec has to be SPIII. The level needs to be checked after the gearbox is warm and has cycled through all the gears. Small boost leaks can mess up fuel economy as can a lazy lambda sensor but yes, they are thirsty!

    HI

I was told on Facebook to turn to you.

Now I'm looking for an adapter plate for the legnum to drive the Evo Clutch. Do you know where I can get them from, including the screws, etc.?

    I thank you

    greeting

    Alex

Hi Nick. Just need to pick your brains about auto box oil. Had my Legnum 6 years now. Donít know how old gearbox oil was when bought her but was clean. Iíve done 30k miles since and only changed trans filter every 10k. Am doing major MAJOR service right now. Rebuilding both turbos, cambelt and water pump, new rad and intercooler, wheel bearings, plugs, brake lines, fluids etc including filters. Box oil is now bit dirty so looking to change it. Was going to go fully synthetic but donít know if will suit the box. Will need to drain torque converter anyway as donít want to cut corners so have you any recommendations?
    Cheers
    Patrick

Hey, just wondering if youíre still making/selling the adapters to use Evo clutches on the vr4 galants. Me and my friend have a 97 galant vr4 and I was wondering if I could get my hands on one of those.

So finally itís the lash adjusters to source. I have read a lot about how much of an improvement the 3mm holes are compared to the standard 1mm. There seem to be a lot for sale for the 6A13TT that clearly state that they have the improved 3mm holes.

Do you or anyone you know have any information regarding if there is a
MD151382 / MD377560 version that has the upgraded 3mm holes. I imagine that it would be worth having those in the long run if they exist!

    Thanks
    J

I don't know about sourcing in NZ, but in the UK you could do worse than pri racing.
Remember that different versions of the same engine may need different lashers. The V6-24 and the VR4 use different versions, for example. (6A13 and 6A13TT)

Hi Nick. I read one of your old comments and I was wondering if you could help me regarding lash adjusters for the 6A13 V6 sport not the 6A13TT?

I believe the lash adjuster part numbers for the 6A13TT are
    MD171130
    MD359419
    MD377239

Like you mentioned the V6 sport lash adjuster part numbers are different. They are
    MD151382
    MD377560

I have sourced the rocker covers gaskets which appear to look the same as the 6A13TT but have a different code. Same with the cylinder head washers that have a different number to the 6A13TT and finally the spark plug seals which share the same code as the TT.
