Well, there's a couple of us in Redditch that may be willing to help have a look if you find one that needs checking out.

Sorry Glyn, I stopped doing them a while ago. There are others around who can help though. Wouter may be able to. There is someone else too but I forget his name. If you need me to look it up I will.

Nice! To be fair, Pilot Sport 4s are one of the best tyres out there, so not a difficult one to recommend.

Thanks for the link Bill, haven't had chance to properly digest the information yet (day job stress) but skim reading it is rather juicy. If that page is correct about disabling boot mode flashing then that's a real shame. I was hoping to try and coax those dead cells back to life by repeatedly hammering them with 0xFF and 0x00. Definitely not guaranteed to fix the issue but worth a shot just in case. Also tempted to write my own reflashing program and put it on Github or something for...

Definitely interested in those notes BCX - the more we all know the better :) I do not claim to be an expert as I know we're all just scratching the surface. I just dug out the FLASH1 and FLASH2 Z-TAT programmers I had and tried to write to the knackered 7202 chip; FLASH1 Z-TAT with its own software would attempt to program but fail at the negotiating baud phase, but at least lights up the Vpp activity LED so I know it's *trying*. FLASH1 Z-TAT with the FLASH2 software is initially...

Sadly no such luck, this was attempting to flash a factory 7202 ROM image to a known-bad MH7202F (flashing dash lights / not booting) with the memmodel set in EcuFlash Version 1.41.2483 to MH7202F (doesn't seem to be possible to set it to the MH7203FA admittedly). Reading the ECU is completely fine, although the ROM ID is garbage, opening it in a hex editor I can see the tables are there. It's just writing that fails... J2534 API Version: 04.04

Jeez, I blink and ALL THE POSTS! :D Lot to cover here, forgive all the quotes! Indeed - I too have been running the latest EcuFlash on Windows 10, but I have been running MMCFlash (for the 7201 / H8/539F variants) on a Windows XP Virtualbox VM. I may try shifting EcuFlash and EvoScan into that VM too and keep them there.

Yep, this is symptomatic of a bad flash - the ECU processor detects an invalid checksum on the EEPROM and doesn't boot up. When you flash the car, you're actually resetting the ECU and loading a custom program into it, hence why you can still start a flash process Sadly no, it needs to be the exact known-good flash that worked last time. Otherwise the checksum won't match. As Garry has said, we can support you with a ViPEC / Link ECU, between Garry and myself we've got 8 years...

Hi GregorEST - as Garry has asked, is the car running at this point? The symptoms you describe are akin to EEPROM failure - it plagues flashing most factory ECU's at this point (which is why I keep spares when I'm tuning!). There's 2 types of failure I've observed; * Flashing failure towards the start of the EEPROM addresses, this results in a totally dead ECU you cannot fix * Flashing failure towards the middle / end of the EEPROM addresses, can sometimes be recovered by flashing...

Hello! Definitely better advice on here than on failbook. We are good armchair shoppers, so if you find one you like the look of then post it up and we'll dissect it. Whereabouts in Worcestershire are you?

As Tim says, that bolt can't be too long. If it is it will hit the casting sprue below the bolt and force the bolt hole away from the sprue. I've seen that damage at least half a dozen times.

I heard a conversation in the distance at one point where someone said "not many people know what the MPS is" or something similar. It now makes sense! Sorry I didn't meet you properly, but I'm sure I will at some point. Welcome to the club!

Ah. Good to know. Are you familiar with the procedure? So for example at the strut tops where there is a triple layer of metal, how do you make sure the acid has not only done it's job, but also comes back out again? I'm under the impression that trapped acid would be detrimental to keeping the car rust free!

    HI

I was told on Facebook to turn to you.

Now I'm looking for an adapter plate for the legnum to drive the Evo Clutch. Do you know where I can get them from, including the screws, etc.?

    I thank you

    greeting

    Alex

Hi Nick. Just need to pick your brains about auto box oil. Had my Legnum 6 years now. Donít know how old gearbox oil was when bought her but was clean. Iíve done 30k miles since and only changed trans filter every 10k. Am doing major MAJOR service right now. Rebuilding both turbos, cambelt and water pump, new rad and intercooler, wheel bearings, plugs, brake lines, fluids etc including filters. Box oil is now bit dirty so looking to change it. Was going to go fully synthetic but donít know if will suit the box. Will need to drain torque converter anyway as donít want to cut corners so have you any recommendations?
    Cheers
    Patrick

Hey, just wondering if youíre still making/selling the adapters to use Evo clutches on the vr4 galants. Me and my friend have a 97 galant vr4 and I was wondering if I could get my hands on one of those.

So finally itís the lash adjusters to source. I have read a lot about how much of an improvement the 3mm holes are compared to the standard 1mm. There seem to be a lot for sale for the 6A13TT that clearly state that they have the improved 3mm holes.

Do you or anyone you know have any information regarding if there is a
MD151382 / MD377560 version that has the upgraded 3mm holes. I imagine that it would be worth having those in the long run if they exist!

    Thanks
    J

I don't know about sourcing in NZ, but in the UK you could do worse than pri racing.
Remember that different versions of the same engine may need different lashers. The V6-24 and the VR4 use different versions, for example. (6A13 and 6A13TT)

Hi Nick. I read one of your old comments and I was wondering if you could help me regarding lash adjusters for the 6A13 V6 sport not the 6A13TT?

I believe the lash adjuster part numbers for the 6A13TT are
    MD171130
    MD359419
    MD377239

Like you mentioned the V6 sport lash adjuster part numbers are different. They are
    MD151382
    MD377560

I have sourced the rocker covers gaskets which appear to look the same as the 6A13TT but have a different code. Same with the cylinder head washers that have a different number to the 6A13TT and finally the spark plug seals which share the same code as the TT.
