there will be no direct route through the cylinder for the pressure to escape, unless you are really unlucky and set the engine to a position where you are right on the overlap between the exhaust valve closing and inlet valve opening, but i don't think our engines have the cam timing setup to run lots of valve overlap so you will be OK. Either the cylinders will have the exhaust valves open and inlet closed or inlet valves open and exhaust closed or both sets of valves closed. so pressure...

Wow. I have to echo Tim, what a review! We are becoming more and more certain that an ev will make an appearance here within a few years. My job has recently changed and I have a V8 itch to scratch before I turn my back on petrol, but it is nice to see electric becoming more accessible and more exciting. The first Tesla I saw was a model S a fair few years ago at Goodwood festival of speed. I watched silently roll out of the pits and then silently disappear up the hill faster than a lot of the...

Cracking read Isaac. Really good to have a proper objective review. I know the march that way is inexorable, and there is a certain rose-tinted view of ICE, especially for petrolheads. We should probably have one ourselves, but the main barrier is the initial outlay required. Your review has given us food for thought (I've been boring Amy senseless, er, I mean, discussing the finer points of your lengthy tome with her!), especially with you saying you were surprised to find it within...

a narrow band will constantly switch from rich to lean about the stoic point when the car is running normally. if you artificially create a vacuum leak at idle the narrow band will show lean constantly and the long term and short term fuel trims will come into play and gradually add more and more fuel to bring the AFR back to stoic even with the leek. as the fuel trims do there thing and adjust the fueling the narrow band out will show you the output going from constant max lean back towards...

Ok all, so i have finished panting the parts, i wish i had not started paining anything other than the block. because anything factory finish i put up against the painted parts just looks a bit crap and unfinished. i have to stop some where and i draw the line at bolts. these do not need to be painted or finished or polished. that would be insane on any car other than a show car and this car is no show car it is a daily driver and i must keep that in mind otherwise it turn into a project that...

I had to Heli coil one of my plenum to inlet manifold connection. It is very easy to do, you just have to be careful with what you are doing especially when you snap off the screw in tang. Sent from my MI 5s using Tapatalk

So from an electrical point of view the injectors being triggered correctly if you can see the pulsing. But it does not mean the injectors are actually opening and closing. This opening and closing is quite loud with a sharp tick tick tick as they are firing. So you can get a screw driver and put it on the top of each injector and put you ear to the screwdriver handle and listen to the injector fire. Sorry this would have probably been an easier thing to do than measure all the voltages. But...

Did you open up the outlet holes in the stock manifolds at all they are very small. I was thinking it might help the exhaust flow. There is quite a lot of metal that could be removed to make the hole bigger. Sent from my MI 5s using Tapatalk

I think TPS should be 96% wot and 7% closed. If you have removed the plenum recently and the issues started after you refitted. It is very easy to trap a wire under the plenum and cause a vacuum leak. I two different methods to leak check a vr4 inlet pipework. 1. Use a smoke machine. Attach it to brake booster nlet on back of plenum and pump smoke in and see where it comes out. 2. Pressure test the inlet pipework, but only from the out put of the turbo compressor exit after the Y...

There's a set of codes in this post: https://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?22930-diagnostic-codes-complete-set You only need to short pins 1 and 4 on the OBD-II connector near the driver's knee, using a short piece of wire or a paperclip. This is a representation of the connector: ---------------------------- \.01.02.03.04.05.06.07.08../ .\09.10.11.12.13.14.15.16./ ..------------------------

From the factory I think there is a waxy paper plug on top of the cross head screw. If it has never been adjusted in the past. But I have tried to adjust the bist screw on an old vr4 of mine and it turned to dust and had to be picked/dug out with a small fine screwdriver . You then have to buy a new one and realise that the screw is made out of some kind of 1940's wonder material bakolite. Which turns to dust on its 7th birthday.

RXWPN Hi justin, what manifolds are you using for this setup. complete custom, modified originals or complete standard originals? i remember this thread you did. not much detail from the pipe on the exact pipework. i believe the exhaust manifold output ran under the car and joined at the front by the turbo and then the exhaust downpipe whet back under the car to the normal exhaust location. how is the tuning going on it did you reach your targets? am i right in thinking you converted you...
