What Garry said - a tiny crack in the ring can give exactly this. The flashy dash will tell you which wheel is giving the issue assuming it is not something else. Note the error code will suggest the sensor, but the sensors failing are very rare - it is almost always the reluctor ring.

Nice to know about the mini. It is not mine, but it is an R53 Cooper S. It already has suspension, exhaust, brakes and supercharger pulley upgrade. The owner may or may not have a diff on order. ;) I'm not sure I'm the best person to start a thread, but I'll be registering interest if anyone does.
