Mitsi's SP-III can get trashed well before the 45k service interval. Amsoil ATF is fantastic in these boxes. It's probably closer to a 'fill for life' oil!

Alas, you're too kind (unless you mean the previous owner between me and me! :D). The leading edge of the bonnet had blown - though Atik was looking to get it sorted and take it onwards and upwards! One thing I remained impressed with was how good the underside and other potential areas of concern are - pretty damn solid /yes

:o Holy moly! Sadly, fairly standard for an 'official UK' car. The importers gave them nothing more than a rudimentary undersealing. And why would an owner of a new car even think about getting a car undersealed subsequently. Shame, cause they still look good on the outside. And I suppose, /Welcome

It's definitely hit and miss - daren't touch my pump, but it's done 70,000 in the 12.5 years since import, and it's not even needed the adjustable switch yet. It has always had Amsoil ATF in it in that time, maybe that's a factor. I know this is a slight tangent, but if you don't need to disturb it, there's possibly less need to relocate it. Though I have had the tow bar on, off then on again, thinking about it!

Flashy dash works with the ignition on, doesn't matter whether the engine is running or not. You should definitely be seeing flashing lights! /yes What are you using to bridge the pins? Is it making good contact? Sorry to push the 'user error' side of things, but it's not really a known thing to fail! I was on a course near the university in Coventry at the beginning of the week - I would have been happy to pop round and have a look too had I have realised how close I was. I'll try to...

The plastic tub option (or a stainless steel box if you're feeling flush!) is probably a decent shout. Or surely there's enough room in the rear wing where the reservoir is located?

I think it was originally set up that way so that images especially were uploaded to CVR4 rather than linked to, so that useful threads didn't lose links to image sharing sites in the future, such as those threads where you have outdated photobucket links.

Dave, I wouldn't have thought you'd need to worry about cooling the AYC pump since it doesn't do a lot of work other than when the system is actually active. Even then, I think the fluid isn't stressed or really heated by much else other than perhaps a little bit of conduction through the diff casing/internals.

What flashing lights did you get? If no codes stored at all, then the various lights should have been flashing constantly about once per second.

Hi Nev, hope you can help- bought my legnum vr4 twin turbo about two years ago, had to get a gearbox rebuild just over a year ago, because it is an import made for the Japanese and Brazilian market i thought parts would be hard to get but got sorted at a cost of £1800. Have bought a lot of servicing parts from camskills and at present waiting for two inlet valves and a few other parts. trying to get the tork settings for the head and cam but not having any luck. Does the club sell workshop manuals or do you know where I can buy one regardless of price. Not used the club before because was unsure how it all realy worked. Sorry the car is 1998 ( 27-02-1998 ). Francey
  2. Hi Steve

    Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately, new users aren't able to post in the FS/WTB areas until they have reached three months, 10 non-spam posts, or have became a member. Having said that, in your circumstances (i.e. you're not taking the mickey!) if you post up a WTB thread in a different area, and ask me to move it, I can do. The limit is designed to prevent people simply registering just to sell stuff really.

However, the wood window switch, despite Mitsi's love of the I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Wood effect in the Galant, was not an option (or part of a standard package) on any JDM or UK 8Gs. There may be possibility that it was available somewhere on a European or Asian market version - or even a USDM, although I doubt it very much on both counts, and the USDM is probably actually a different fitting anyway.

Just thought you should know! Your best bet may be to get a match on a wood-effect vinyl, and wrap the switch?

    Good luck,
    Nev.

Dude, wonder if you can help.
I've tried several times to post in the fs/wtb section, but keep getting a message telling me I can't.

I'm only after a wood effect window switch, that I can fit into my custom CA/CJ Colt build, and the only car that seems to have them is the VR4.

Please can you sort priviledges for me so I can post, and PM me back?

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve.
