Cracking read Isaac. Really good to have a proper objective review. I know the march that way is inexorable, and there is a certain rose-tinted view of ICE, especially for petrolheads. We should probably have one ourselves, but the main barrier is the initial outlay required. Your review has given us food for thought (I've been boring Amy senseless, er, I mean, discussing the finer points of your lengthy tome with her!), especially with you saying you were surprised to find it within...

There's a set of codes in this post: https://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?22930-diagnostic-codes-complete-set You only need to short pins 1 and 4 on the OBD-II connector near the driver's knee, using a short piece of wire or a paperclip. This is a representation of the connector: ---------------------------- \.01.02.03.04.05.06.07.08../ .\09.10.11.12.13.14.15.16./ ..------------------------

You can currently get Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tyres for £70 a corner. I keep thinking about getting a set of four until they're needed! That's based on 225/45R17 though. It looks like Kumho only do PS91s in 18" to 20" though - are your wheels 18" or more? Mid-range, you will get a few votes from owners for Falkens. Then there's the original fitment Bridgestones... Difficult to say from the reviews though. Tyres can be about as subjective as oil choices! For goodness sake...

If I'm not too late (sorry!), I'll have another two USG tubs of AZO please. Or 8 quart bottles, I guess!

I'm *still* waiting for my pump to need one after more than 12 years ownership! Perhaps that's testament to using Amsoil ATF in it for all that time. Mind you, the facelift may need one at some point, I guess!

I always like to check the reason one needs a replacement AYC pump - is it not providing enough pressure? It's the number one issue with AYC pumps, but can be easily and inexpensively resolved, usually for many years, by fitting an adjustable pressure switch. If so, Malc MPBVr4 is your man - he must have supplied hundreds of these now!

Lift pump could be goosed then. Which is somewhat of a PITA to sort out as you either need to drop the tank or cut a hole under the rear seat (on the opposite side to where the main fuel pump housing is) for access. Obviously, the latter is frought with danger! It's livable, and certainly easier to cope without than it is to fix! The only way of assisting it when the tank is getting low is throw the car round a left-hand bend to slosh some of the fuel over the hump to the fuel pump side!...

To be honest, those new AFRs could easily be stock values. I've certainly seen loads of VR-4s dip below 10 on the dyno! And yes, all VR-4s have a single O2 sensor from the factory - located in the downpipes just before the cat. How has it NOT been running rich before now, without an O2 sensor - what sort of setup do you have? E.g. after-market ECU, remap, MAF delete, etc.?

/Welcome Good to see that you intend on bestowing some TLC on your new car! Weirdly, I'm not sure they're original CVR4 stickers, but that's not a worry! Certainly looked like somebody had access to a vinyl cutter :D The rear bumper looks a bit pushed in. If you look underneath, there may still be two (I think) metal brackets that are probably now bent, holding the bumper in that position. Straighten them, and the bumper should push back out to its proper shape.

Hi Nev, hope you can help- bought my legnum vr4 twin turbo about two years ago, had to get a gearbox rebuild just over a year ago, because it is an import made for the Japanese and Brazilian market i thought parts would be hard to get but got sorted at a cost of £1800. Have bought a lot of servicing parts from camskills and at present waiting for two inlet valves and a few other parts. trying to get the tork settings for the head and cam but not having any luck. Does the club sell workshop manuals or do you know where I can buy one regardless of price. Not used the club before because was unsure how it all realy worked. Sorry the car is 1998 ( 27-02-1998 ). Francey
  2. Hi Steve

    Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately, new users aren't able to post in the FS/WTB areas until they have reached three months, 10 non-spam posts, or have became a member. Having said that, in your circumstances (i.e. you're not taking the mickey!) if you post up a WTB thread in a different area, and ask me to move it, I can do. The limit is designed to prevent people simply registering just to sell stuff really.

However, the wood window switch, despite Mitsi's love of the I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Wood effect in the Galant, was not an option (or part of a standard package) on any JDM or UK 8Gs. There may be possibility that it was available somewhere on a European or Asian market version - or even a USDM, although I doubt it very much on both counts, and the USDM is probably actually a different fitting anyway.

Just thought you should know! Your best bet may be to get a match on a wood-effect vinyl, and wrap the switch?

    Good luck,
    Nev.

Dude, wonder if you can help.
I've tried several times to post in the fs/wtb section, but keep getting a message telling me I can't.

I'm only after a wood effect window switch, that I can fit into my custom CA/CJ Colt build, and the only car that seems to have them is the VR4.

Please can you sort priviledges for me so I can post, and PM me back?

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve.
