Just wait a bit for Davezj to release his p&p cop kit, knowing his attention to detail it will be well worth watching for.

standard car round town 20-25mpg motorway driving 25-32mpg are you considering creating a VR2 (front wheel drive with VR4 engine) on a 7G platform. it has been doe before. if you are thinking of doing 4wd 7G you will struggle as the 7G chassis does not have the transmission tunnel for the propshaft that goes to the rear of the car to the rear differential. lots of metalwork required.

I am going to release a COP conversion kit soon. it is a completely plug and play kit, no wiring, no metal work making brackets, no looking for screws, washer, spacers, or anything else for that matter. i can even supply the coil packs. watch the forum for updates on this and it will be sold for as cheap as possible to make it affordable for all, to keep these cars on the road.

thanks for the info Tomasz, i am using the honda coil and that is working great with out dwell modification. i have been running it for a long time, i just wanted to be able to tune the dwell if i even needed to. Is there a possibility the reduction factor table is actually and offset table 100 being 1ms and 96 being 0.96ms, 0 being oms offset. This would account for the 1ms offset when you measure the dwell with a scope and when you look at the requested dwell time. the reason why i...

Coil Settings 2 = Coil dwell time this is simple it is the required dwell time at a given battery voltage. Coil Settings 3 = Dwell Time Reduction Factor as merlin described it "the third table is the Reduction Factor, reducing the values in this table will result in more Dwell Time at redline". Most COP coil on plug setups can be run with this table set to zero i.e. no Dwell reduction. this means the standard value of 96 means the dwell time will be reduced by 96%, reducing this...

I have fitted a coil on plug kit which is still used in wasted spark configuration. i understand the description of the first two tables but i dont know what is meant by the description of the 3rd table. This table shown here (the third table in the coil group) <table name="Ignition Coil, Dwell-Time Correction 2" address="122ba" category="Timing" type="2D" scaling="Percent128"> Is just the maximum Dwell percent that will be applied, regardless of any other settings in the other two...

Probably the best spark plug you can get for spark performance is the cheapest copper only none resistive plug. But these create a lot of noise which is picked up on the radio and potentially in the ECU and other electrical circuits in the car which is why they are not used any more. However standard copper resistive plug are still probably the best spark performing spark plug you can get but they don't last long. If you don't mind changing the plugs every about 5k miles then these are the...

Your plugs look completely buggered particularly if the are all supposed to be iridium tipped plugs. Definitely need new ones. You can get double iridium plugs now with a bit of iridium on both sides of the spark gap. Witch should make them last longer the the standard single centre electrode tip plug.

Coil packs are really expensive about £160 each. And you probably well not be able to find a replacement. You can go second hand replacement but they are all about 20 years old already and if they are working now they they probably done have much life left in them. I am not sure if mitsi still sell original coil packs . I believe the coil pack is unique to the vr4 engine like a lot of other things. And the after market scene do not provide any solutions at present. We are getting a bit...

I did that ages ago and constantly changing old pipes to new ones and instead of do whole lot I have bursting little pipes 3 times luckily engine survived, so yes if you have ALL pipes, especially small dia ones for turbo cooling, new, if you on old pipes I would not recommend it.
