Hi all,
I've now got a shiny Grimmspeed 3-port solenoid to fit and I've stripped down the engine to get at the old one.
However...
I can't find any info about how to plumb in the new solenoid, given that I'm going from 2 port to 3. Does anyone have any diagrams that would help? I've been through the forum, but not been able to find anything...

You will have to get ecu boost control curve remapped as it will give a smooth control of the boost if you just fit and use.
It will be easier if you do it yourself , reflash the ecu I mean.
Did the new one not come with instructions? Usually the three ports are pressure reference in, pressure reference out and pressure bleed off. My Perrin is connected directly between the inlet elbow and the wastegate actuator line and the bleed is plumbed into the same bleed point as the stock solenoid.
Thanks guys. Nick - kind of - it's an Evo 8/9/10 fitment so the diagram is for that engine...although a picture of a BOV and a separate picture of a turbo aren't really that much help!
The bov has nothing to do with it. Isn't it a picture of a wastegate or a wastegate actuator?
On the VR4, the red tipped hose is the pressure source. This tees to the solenoid and the wastegate actuators. If your pipework is stock then following the red tipped pipe from the inlet elbow should lead you via the tee to the solenoid and a metal pipe in the middle of the vee behind the thermostat housing (this feeds the wastegate actuators). The other pipe from the solenoid is the vent pipe and is plumbed into the inlet system pre turbo in the pipe below the inlet elbow.
With a 3 port there are different ways of using them and wiring in depending on design and application but most common in my experience is one pipe to the inlet elbow, one pipe to the wastegate actuator pipe and one venting. For my anal brain I use the bleed pipe from the stock solenoid that plumbs back into the inlet pipe pre turbo for the vent.
On your diagram one pipe should be seeing pressure from the turbo (pressure source), the other should be controlling the pressure the turbo is making (wastegate actuators).

Thanks guys - I'm reasonably handy with mechanical stuff but turbo plumbing is not one of my strong points!!
RIGHT.... well, GrimmSpeed solenoid plumbed in... After a minor issue (losing power due to some silly g!t who had forgotten to tighten the jubilee clip on the intake elbow!!) the first test drive showed a real difference. Idle at -20 vacuum dropping to -17 warm. Now hitting 10psi under hard acceleration in 3rd/4th gear and so much more responsive now. Very happy - just need to get it tuned now!
