Rare UK car with 5 speed gearbox and Recaro interior
The lightest of the 8G VR-4s, the Galant VR-4 Type-V! No AYC, saloon, manual box.
Didn't realise there were ANY manual 'official UK' cars. Thought they were all facelift Type-S ones with the autobox.
Does the speedo just have a sticker For mph like all uk imports?
Nice car, but for that sort of money I'd be looking towards getting one imported from Japan.

How does the cornering and traction differ between typical VR4s and this one without the AYC?
They were official imports, they never type approved it. As a result the best they offered were some stickers, relating to air bags, fuel and speedo. If you were really lucky the changed the LEGNUM on the rear tailgate to GALANT but obviously the saloons didn't need that anyway.
They were still technically all still "grey" imports, just they were imported by the company who run the Mitsubishi brand in the UK. The VR-4 was never Type Approved as an offical model for sale in the UK to be sold in bulk, but each individual car that was imported by Mitsubishi was individually submitted for SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) - just like every other VR-4 ever imported into the UK by the various other importers or individuals who have done so over the years.
So, because of that, it was very much a case of do the bare minimum, as quickly and cheaply as possible - so that's a couple of stickers, a KPH-MPH converter behind the dash, and a fog light cut into the rear bumper.
There is absolutely nothing special about an "official" UK car - in fact, in my time here on the forum, I've seen that most of these have been some of the VR-4s that are in the worst condition, because they sat around for a while before being sold, and they'll have been in the UK for about the longest of any VR-4 so subjected to our terrible weather and salted roads!
And the undersealing was rudimentary at best. Also, the 'Ralliart' nomenclature was never an official name either.
Thanks that clears that up
I was not the seller, i just posted to give a heads up to anyone who was looking looking :)
It was up for £6500 in the original add which i thought was well overpriced. but any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay or it.
