My Legnum project

Well its finally underway!

Woke up early enough today to get the tools out before working this evening.

Jacked up the front end, sat that on axle stands and was met with a pretty horrific sight once I'd got the wheels off.

Corrosion of almost everything metal I could touch. Almost like it's been at the sea side for 2 years!

Fortunately after getting a bit shabby with a screwdriver and wielding a wire brush, it's mostly surface rust and can be sorted.

The tops of the strut towers are suffering, particularly the drivers side.

I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking now though

you will probably see the strut top open up into some rust big holes as i did last year.

i think i did a thread on the extent of the rust on my car, i will see if i can find a ink to it.

it looks like only surface rust how wrong.

and this is just the top repair you have to plate it under neither as well.

Good grief. I reckon I'll be carving chunks out of this car!!

I'm starting to.wonder if shes borderline scrap now but I'll push on for now.

I didnt throw it in for an mot straight away because when I was driving it back home (about 15miles) it broke a front coil spring and the brakes are *very* poor.
They'll need a strip and rebuild at the very least.

Once I'm satisfied that I can actually stop safely and addressed the charging issue, which i think is a shot alternator, then I'll present her for an mot and hide in the corner with my fingers in my ears and cuddling a teddy ha ha
