Well you asked what the best option is. And as @swinks said thicker doesnt mean better. A thinner copper rad will outperform a thicker alloy one but it comes at a cost. As does any quality performance part
That's an interesting material I had not considered copper for car rads.
Very interesting when you look at all the old 1920 brass cars they had copper rads. A copper was available easily available. I know aluminium was not available in that era but there must have been a decision at some point to go for a steel rad over copper just based on a price point. And people never looked back.
Just shows you new ideas are not always best
Thank you Adam, very well spoken ;)
Copper Koyo rads I've seen on Yahoo were price tagged 300 - 400 GBP before shipping and customs. IMO, well worth money for what they offer you in terms of quality and efficiency. Myself I did consider to replace my 50mm thick Evo 8 one with proper copper Koyo one, but in the end I swapped vehicle :)
I wasnt saying a koyo wasnt worth it. I looked on rhdjapan and they wanted 700 for the rad. I can get one for 300 but its got to be modded so even if it goes wrong i have no comeback but 300 is worth the extra i was just weighting up my options. So went with 52mm alloy rad as im not sure on fit + it came with fans ect and if it does fail ive still got enough left to get another.
The more i can save the more parts i can buy.
Like said ive had koyos before so i know there good i just wanted to know my options. As long as the one i got fits and works ive saved myself 150+ and have that to spend on other bits.
Thinking about changing my radiator next to an evo 4-6 one, Ive read a few threads on here already but I'm hoping someone can confirm a couple things. What top hose will I need to use and will I also need new fans?
