Autobox stuck in 3rd and speedo not working

Hi everyone,
I collected my car from the garage after having gearbox and torque converter refurbished. The garage tested it after refitting and said the car was ready for pick up. When I was driving home the car would not go above the 3rd gear. I could change between 2nd and 3rd manually but in auto mode it was stuck in 3rd.
The speedo stopped working too.
I took the car back to the garage and they already took a quick look at it and said that all the plugs are in place. Tomorrow they will be checking more thoroughly.

Any ideas what might have gone wrong?

I had something similar in my first VR4 after gearbox refitting and it was one of the plugs on the top of the gearbox.

If that isn't the case them I'd leave it with the gearbox place to figure it out!

On a 1997 the speedo is independent of the rest of the auto box functions. For the speedo I would be checking the converter and the connection on the gearbox.
For the rest, ecu fuse and connections to the gearbox. There should be a fault code if the car won't change gear, search flashy dash and see if that helps.

Problem solved. One of the wires going to the gearbox got broken. The wire has been reattached and is all good now :)
