wow....damper fail!

afternoon guys,thought i would share this close call.......as some of you may be aware i am in the process fo breaking my beloved VR4...so,removing the rear hubs/discs etc i was attempting to remove the offside suspension damper but it had seized like a bugger and would not come off the lower mount...so after removing the top bolt of the wishbone assembly all the weight of the hub etc was on the damper top mount,but the damper 'let go' catastrophically...god knows what could have happened if i were driving,the point at which it let go was hidden behind the gaitor...
