The timing of this update is quite apt, having just received an email from Old Skool Ford forum listing their Favourite Projects, and included in the list is my little project! So, a huge thanks to the staff at OSF for the shout in their mass email!
It starts with a quick trip to collect some shiny bits for a good price, and to try to squeeze it into the back of a Fiesta because I forgot to pick up the hacksaw I placed in the hallway the previous night before leaving - which in itself was quite a feat of engineering! ;)

Having successfully collected the exhaust, which was previously fitted to a VR-4, the backboxes were chopped from the pipework, and lifted into place to measure up and see what it would look like with the 5" exit... the answer... a little stupid, especially on such a small car! No pic, unfortunately!
So, the outlets were also chopped off, and the boxes were lifted into place to measure up for the other pipework.
The exhaust bits already on the car were marked, cut, and adjusted to follow the line of the floor better, and in preperation for adding of the next parts.

I also purchased some 2.5" stainless over-axle exhaust sections, as they were available cheaper than making our own sections or buying various angled bits and welding together ourselves. These were fitted to the backboxes, and some brackets were made and welded to the chassis to support via some new exhaust rubbers.

Moving onto tailpipes, and we again utilised some offcuts from a section that has provided other parts of the exhaust, which was the enclosed ends of the bumper bar which forms the turbo elbows. The rear valance was roughly chopped to accomodate the second tailpipe, and they were fitted.

The enclosed bits were removed to give a pair of downdraught tailpipes - and hopefully nicely subtle!

Awesome!
Thats looking really awesome!
Looks great! IMO this is one of the most exciting projects currently running. Keep up the good work!
Must say when I saw that first pic of the twin 5" tips, I thought "noooooooo, dont do it". But what you have done with the downswept tips is superb. Very very nice work there Garry!
And well done on the OSF publicity too. I think this project will become one of those legendary builds that go viral.
Very tastefully done :)
Come on gary were's the update lol
I've not done any more updates recently as my web hosting went WAY over the bandwidth limit last time I posted an update, so I've been sorting out my hosting packages, as well as make some changes to the posts I've put up to put small thumbnails with links to the full-sized photos - so those who have seen them don't need to load tens of megabytes of pictures every time they load the thread!
However... I can't edit my earlier posts here - is there a way that a Mod could unlock these posts for me to edit for a while? Or do I have to send all the bits I want changing via PM or Email to someone with the power to edit?
I'm back at my dad's this weekend, so it'll be a bonus DOUBLE UPDATE this time next week! ;)
Woo double update :D
Come on we want more lol
Well done!!
Loving the ghetto fuel tank!! :D
Yeah the tank is awsum! Sound like the "lashies" need some love though ;)
No video for me? Just a big black square :(
Edit: Working now - very well done Garry and Garry Snr (no idea what Dad's name is) "It's aliiiiiiive!" The fuel tank's great, be interesting to measure how much it uses on idle or at x RPM for y minutes.
awesome, good to see it running, gotta get it on the street lol, doesnt look like you will get to many miles to that tank though lol
The engine had been sat for 26 months without any oil - we all know how bad these engines are after even just doing an oil change until they get filled with oil again and stop ticking a few minutes later! ;) Anyway - it a characteristic of the engine, I can identify a 6A13 engined car just from that ticking :)
Oh, and @Ryan, my dad's name is Allan - I've learnt from Facebook this morning that he had the engine fired up again last night, I think he was sorting out the power cables from the back to the front so we don't need the jump leads off the battery in the boot to the front any more ;) Its electrics are all self-contained now! ;)
YAY!!! awesome guys!
Hate to tell you this Garry but i think you put the engine in the wrong way round :D
