Galant Power Steering Rack.

hello all

i just need bit of advice i have a play on my power steering rack.I have to get it changed to get pass the MOT.I need to get it changed i'm getting various responses from garage to garage.some says

1-buy the half rack and get it fit

2-some say get full rack (most expensive £220)

3-some say get re-conditioned rack (£75 with 1 months warranty)

IAM totally lost so i just need bit of advice from people who came across this situation.

what model of galant do you have?

what are the symptoms? are yousure the rack needs replaced? search on track rod ends and steering rack - some guys have justy needed end link done after being quoted for new racks etc

it may be worth joining up for the info etc in the members section, if you dont need a new rack surely info like this has to be worth £20

hi it has small play on the front passenger side.

i had small joint changed on that rod but it didnt sort it out.so i took to 3 different garages and they told me changing the rod is hard so just get the whole steering rack and we will change that.luckily i have ordered the ball joint which attaches to the steering rack and it has ball joint attach to it.WILL THAT SORT THE PROBLEM OUT!!.well i guess the reason it messed up because i hit on 40mph to the pavement to avoid hitting a dog.and because of that there is a play only on that side.

also i seen your car i have same color as your car and iam looking for paint for it.any idea where i can get it from.
