The clutch on the Leggie recently started to get a bit tired, the biting point was getting higher and higher and then shortly after started to slip, It was a surprise how quick it went from slightly worn to slipping like a tw@t.
The clutch it's self had done less than 20K, and was an uprated stage 1 exedy item, so due to the lifespan of that one I instantly ruled out them for the replacement.
I wanted to retain a degree of drivability as it is the family car after all. I then came across these guys http://www.competitionclutch.co.uk/ I contacted them to see what they recommend for this application and the most helpful gentleman recommended their evo 8 stage 2 carbon ceramic kit which has 80% more clamping force than stock but still retains the stock pedal feel and drivability, I was a tad dubious understandably, but he insisted it really was as good as stock but with better power handling. so i went for it, and at 330 ish quid delivered it was sensibly priced.
Well last friday i decided to get it changed as the car was undrivable by now.
The verdict, The man in the know was right, the pedal is a lot lighter than with the exedy item, and is very drivable, there is a bit of judder, but its only done 300 miles since it was installed. All in all highly reccomended for anyone who is considering a new clutch.
I think i got my moneys worth out of the old one
Beautifully packaged and very shiny.
