    T-Minus 332 Miles

Dan, i have come to the conclusion that it must have been contamination of the clutch. The car has been getting better, and better, there is still a bit of judder when moving off, but that could just be the fact its an uprated clutch, if i rev up to just over 1.5k its fine..

I am soooooo sooooo tempted just to floor the bloody thing from time to time. but i must resist, if theres one time in my life i will follow instructions, this is the time. I am so, never going to change a clutch again.

    T-Minus 295 miles..

Problem is, i am running out of time. Santapod is only two weeks away. If i drove the car to work and back for the next ten days, ill only get another 170 miles done, its 17 miles there and back.

im going to have to do an extra 12 miles a day just to be on target, but then theres testing, and stuff... Ive not got a chance of getting outoday, as were off for a walk (still in sucking up to betty mode after last weekends car work )

So i need to do about 30 miles a day (during week) to complete my bedding in time.

    bah.

Barry- where did this running-in advice come from? Is it a special thing for an uprated clutch lining?

/I've never had to run-in a clutch before.

Fay is Teething atm, and she couldn't get to sleep... knowing im a bit behind on the old mileage front, i bravely volenteered to take Fay for a drive, take her of Betties hands, you know.. to give her a break! - Anyways, twice round Manchester, took 1 and a half laps for her to fall asleep . Anyhoo, about 100 miles later, i pull over and...............

Just read the whole of this thread... WOW man!!! That is absolutely mental!!!

I think I would just pay the £700, however, I don't think they'd bother with the spacers, which makes me want to do it myself...

Can you give me a summary of advice for this because I will no doubt attempt this myself soon....

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Just a quick note...
I have not read to teh end..
but I am putting a Manual one into my Auto as well..
I also got a Cusco lightened flywheel,
Instead of getting a spacer made up I get teh centre of my flywheel cut out to the 40+mm spacing...
this allowed the flywheel to bolt up close to engine like the origional, yours will be out by 7mm .. that is it will be 7mm closer into the gearbox, 7mm further up the spline on the box etc..
So just me 2c worth incase anyone else was wanting to put one of these EVO flywheels on. It cost me around $25 AUD to get it machined out at a clutch place.

    Nice job anyway.

That doesn't sound too good - what was the problem?

This is probably as close as you will get. IIRC It has all the info you require for getting to the clutch, minus the actual clutch work such as removing the clutch cover, locking the flywheel and undoing the flywheel bolts.

We also know that you should be removing the lay-shaft from the passengers side of the gearbox to make removal / install of the transfer case a breeze (you will require a slide hammer though)

    I am surprised there isn't a guide on OzVR4...

If you have any specific questions which you don't feel this guide addresses, just ask.
