Legnum roof rails

The roof rails on our cars, are they of any practical use? Can you attach a big heavy suitcase or something to them, or will they buckle? It occurs to me that they could do with a cross-member between the rails.

Most things on the roof would require a cross member being attached. I have a couple of cycle carriers that go on the roof from time to time - the bike sits facing forwards, so the carriers need a cross member to clamp to.

Depends on what you are clamping, but I wouldn't allow anything to sit on the paintwork!

Personally i think roof bars look good, i always think the rail-less legnums look like they have something missing (obviously!)

If I remember correctly, I saw the struggle Mrs BraindG had in the rain at CastleCoombe trying to get the buggy for yer lil'un in and out of that excuse you call a boot . You need a leggie mate.. and a tiptronic one at that

they are damned ugly, I'm so happy both of my legnums didn't have them, unfortunately the VR-4 had those stupid monsoon deflectors on, so I had to rip those off!

I've seen a few people in NZ with big bikes, as well as those streamlined thingees that look like half of a jetski So I don't think they are that weak.

Dunno why you ripped the wind deflectors off, I think they look good and they're actually useful

You don't have roof racks on your car do you Sam, they might have been quite handy for you when you go down to the snow.

Haha yeah the roof rails would actually be useful for me, but I just fold down half the back seat and put the skis inside. I think the cars looks better without them though
