    Manual transmission oil.

Probably going to change my transmission oil at my 54000 mile service. searching around mostly the reccomendations are for redline mt90 or amsoil.

My question is is this a bit of overkill on a standard v6?. do these reccomendations still hold or does anyone use anything else?. I think I need 2.2 litres anyone know a cheap place for mt90?. And finally to amsoil. after wirdys problems with amsoil trans oil do you do a gl4 oil that would suit?.

    cheers in advance, steve

    Redline MT-90.

Excellent in Galant n/a manual transmissions, in VR4 application and Evo 4-9 as well.
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

Sorry To highjack this thread a bit, but does anyone know how much oil a 2 litre manual gearbox takes?

I the gearbox oil was due a change a while ago, and its having a couple of problems that 'might' be sorted by changing the oil to redline MT90 but I don't know how muh oil to put into it?

Assume the 2.0 gearbox takes the same amount ( 2.2l) as the V6 one. Or just fill it up until it is flush with the filler hole, then there is the right amount if the car is straight.
If you can source Redline MT-85 it works better
Mitsu specs 75w-85 gl-4 for the gearbox

I have used Amsoil MTG in my Galants and later switched to Amsoil MTF which makes shifting a bit better for older gearboxes that are getting a bit worn and sticky. I stick to it, as it works for me, and it meets the GL-4 spec that is a must for our gearboxes.
