    Your Pet(s)

Don't think we've had a thread dedicated to people's pets before, so I'll kick one off.

Here is Jack (Golden Retreiver) and Jessie & Shelley our two cats:

And here's Jack after his operation to remove two legs

KieranCorp Towers is a pet-free zone, we're too busy and live too close to a main road to consider Mogs and Dogs.

Alex's parents have a Standard Poodle (Tilly) and used to have two Siamese cats (Poppy and Dennis). Unfortunately, both cats are now prowling around the cattery in the sky - they both had a good innings though.

Dennis can be seen here - Poppy looked almost identical to Isaac's cat. Little Madam that she was!

My Dad owns a Rough Collie - the dog of choice! We've always had them, ever since I was little. However, Darwin is the most inert, stupid collie I've ever known!

Pete - your dog and cats get on well! No chance of a photo like that with Poppy, Dennis and Tilly!

Bern - What are Burmese like? I hear they're like Siamese but not quite as vocal.

Actually Kieran, we don't have pets because I've got enough on looking after you, without having to look after them too!

    Just to clarify

If I said you don't need an alarm clock as long as you need to wake up at 5:30am every day, would you know what I mean...

Lovely cats - affectionate, very intelligent and inquisitive, love water - mine comes running everytime anyone cleans their teeth and has a bit of a bat in the basin (Can be a bit of a pain as he likes to play with the mucky stuff in the catch tray of the plantpots too )

My mom has two siamese, and they don't make nearly as much racket!

One of the best breeds I've owned - will definately have another.

betcha my cat could take him too, we bought him in December, he was 8kg then, now he is 9kg! His paws when outstretched are at least 50mm across, and he has given me some mean scratches

the first rule about cat fight club is don't mention cat fight club

bradc, your cat looks pretty cool - loving the tufty bits on top of the ears - I think I'll make that my next mod

    Maine Coons rock!

Here is ours, also an offspring of Storm (Linked to by Brad) Ours has awesome Lynx tufts on the ears! The tails are pretty amazing too, really bush but also quite hefty... no doubt they need the weight for balancing all that body weight.

Arnie is now ~8 months old, and is the size of a large standard cat. Maine Coons don't reach full size till somewhere between 3 and 4 years old however

3rd pic shows him next to a very fat domestic cat.

Our whanau has 3 animals excluding the kids, 2 dogs and a cat. Will get photos up in the next couple of days.

Dog 1 is Wolfy, he's a pure, blonde, midlength haired pom - he's mine. Fights REALLY wierd coz he's got a blended style of dog instinct and cat ninja style.

Dog 2 is Chewbacca (Chewie), he's a slightly darker blonde pom/chihuahua - he's the mrs'(really womens dog, mkaes me sick.)

Cat is Zed, err.... he black and thats about it, he's the dominant animal give the two dogs are at best 3/4 his size - He my eldest daughters (I suppose that means I'll have to buy another cat for the youngest soon )

yeah their tails are huge, you should try brushing Arnie's when he comes in with mud, twigs, slugs, and biddy bid's all through his coat. you need to wear armour!

What are Maine Coons like with wildlife are they as, er 'playful', as the smaller domestic* cats or are they too big/slow/lazy to catch birds and rodents?

How long before it's unsafe to roam NZ streets/countryside if you're any smaller than an Alsatian?

    *yeah right

well they've had a rabbit, and catch birds, mice and rats regularly, probably 3 or 4 a week. They aren't as good as our Ocicats were though, the Oci's bought in all kinds of wildlife, at least one kill a day, including pigeons, blackbirds, minors, rabbits, etc. They also hunted baby lambs...

Storm is a particularly frentic hunter, he is so much faster than a normal cat

We have a real menagrie here, Dog (Star), Chinchilla (Cracker), Budgie (Bert), Zebra Finch (Zebedee), a koi, Mcoy, 2 x Sturgeon (Tad and Morse) and countless other pond fish. The whole family is animal potty but we admit to avoiding cats as they start our allergies going.

Bailey - Possum assasin... (given half a chance and some dog fitment crampons.)

Had her about 6 weeks now, seems to be settling in well.

Completely fixated with furry things in trees & going through chew toys at an unbelieveable rate.
