as voted by most top racing drivers , the most complete driver and the one that raised the bar to a whole new level is shumi . i do admire senna , he was after all the boy hood hero to millions , also derek bell for what he acheived in sports car racing and for being a genuinlly nice bloke , or hans stuck for all his efforts in touring cars , then the near endless list of rally drivers
senna is better than schuey any day. i admire his achievements, but no one ever goes on about sennas achievemenets still holds the record for winning at monaco 6 times in a row
Hang on a minute mi amigos... you said best driver, not best F1 driver:
Sebastien Loeb
Nobody in the history of motorsport has risen to dominance so quickly. He broke every rally record ever made in his 4th year at the top level.
Check out my band at www.battlecircus.com
im saying that senna was the best driver ever regardless of track/car etc
loeb is superb thow.
SIMON
(Ok best driver using a car with lime green wheels )

Nail hit squarely on head. My immediate thought was Senna, but I'm probably biased as by the time Schumacher arrived I'd lost interest in F1, so Senna was the top driver I grew up with.Originally Posted by psbarham
Also hard to compare drivers from different eras because of advances in the cars. What about Jim Clarke, or Fangio, or even Jackie Stewart? Would they have been competitive now (or would Schuey or Senna have been competitive then)?
Nigel Mansell for his sportmanship
Takuma Sato
1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition
but schui`s was racing longer than senna from 91/92 till today is longer than senna was racing for, and the techincal advances aswell, if you compare a drive between senna back in 1990 and 1999 for schuey, you`ll see that schuey has a blatantly faster car but senna`s car is only the length of the front wing off, and that was in his slow car, before going to williams
it doesn't matter how long they were racing for , the percentages will be the same , and better car WTF , wheres the active suspension ? abs ? hoooooge turbos ? cvt transmissions ? massive slick tyres? enormous wimgs ? side skirts etc in schumis era ? for most of it they had feck all whereas the late 80's early 90's had more gadgets than james bonds aston
fangio thats all there is to it
You can shout me down if you like but for me it would have to be Remy Julienne....
Despite the cost of living its surprising how popular it remains! Feel free to swim in my fishbowl anytime!
Hunt the shunt ??
coats on !!
Best race car driver in drag racing would have to be Don "Big Daddy" Garlits. Not only because of all the races and championships he has won, but because he built his own cars and all the inovations he introduced into the sport.
I was in First Class on a BA flight (not me paying needless to say!) once from Singapore to Sydney. James Hunt was on board with a girlfriend.Originally Posted by SGHOM

The cabin crew more or less left them alone as I was the only other passenger up front, but as they got louder and louder and drunker and drunker they were told to tone it down. I was having a great time watching!
But then ........... the prat stood up with only his pants and socks left on and moved behind one of the bulkheads and started pi$$ing on the floor next to one of the forward exit doors.
He was duly met by police at Sydney Airport
