Hi Mo, this is what we have for that code, 51 valve relay ON breakdown, so it sounds more of a electrical problem. maybe there is a relay that turns the pump on. I am not sure.Originally Posted by zedy1

http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthr...hlight=code%29
I'm sure it's getting harder and harder to search this site.
the flow charts for error codes are in the manuals available on this site, in english.
would also be worth adding,
a constant cel (no flashing, always on) is to show ecu is at fault
ash
IS there something wrong when you pull the codes and the engine light doesnt come on or flash while everything else flashes and is fine?

thanks Dave
Aye, cheers Dave. Bloody good work mate
Not sure I wanna read for too long though, it's starting to make me very depressed thinking about all the potential faults on the VR4.
Chuck all the codes up on a thread and someone will have experienced them before.
What you have to remember is if the battery had not been disconnected for ages the codes displayed are all current codes and old codes that could have occurred years ago and been fixed.
To clear all the current and old code just disconnect the battery for a minutiae or two and read them again there should be none stored, go for a drive then read the codes again and it will display only current codes.
But remember the auto box if you have one will get reset to factory default settings and the shift might be a bit lumpy for the first 50 miles or so.
Thanks again Dave.
Will do.Chuck all the codes up on a thread and someone will have experienced them before.
There should be an agony aunt section on the site..........

i made that.
You have to tell people which light is the code flashing on.
Traction control vacuum and vent solenoids. I think from the description code 77 and code 78 is flashing up because of the code 77.
Get ne vacuum and vent solenoids.
It could be the grey canister has a crack in it.
You can test this system with a hand held vacuum pump.
All the info you need is in the workshop manual.
Only trust the flashy dash. Do not trust code readers.
