    Knock knock

I've been looking through the forums but can't find figures for what is too much knock??

My brand spanking new VAG MUTII usb thingee turned up in the post today - $6USD from Ebay Hong Kong! Anyway the drivers installed fine and I went for my first run, and got some disturbing (maybe?) figures from my knock sensor.

    Idling - between 5 and 14
Full throttle - ~100 ! seems quite high but no idea

    Anyone know?

mine ran knock 80 on WOT doing a ton on 95 RON petrol change to shell V-power (98 RON) and now i get 1 may be 2 nock doing the same i was surprised at the difference.

    Hope this helps.

    Dave.

Search on nock or PC datalogger look for link datalogger 101 within, it has lots of good info.

It depends if you are pulling out pure knock from the sensor, or polling knock sums from the ecu.

The stock ecu will react (Pull timing, dump fuel, back off boost etc) for any knock sum greater than 5.

If you are getting more than that and what you are reading is a knock sum from the ecu, then thats bad. If you are reading a signal from the sensor- i have no idea i'm affraid.

    Cheers,

    Ben.

It's from the ecu using datalogger - so guess it's bad! Shell only does 95 over here.... and i'm stuck using it with the company card, so I'll have to look into additives
