    Which wire to cut

I have got feed up with audi 1.8t overtaking me as they know imports are restricted to 180kn/h, so decided to cut my speed sensor wire.
Now i've hit a problem, i have found three green wires that could match the ones stated in these forums
1.a green wire with a white stripe
2.a green wire with a white stripe and silver dot
3.a white wire with a green strip
I have found wires 1 and 3 on the block connector closest to the passenger footwell
help, which is the correct one ??

I thought the trick was to cut a wire on the back of the gauges/meters-panel?!

No. The limiter is at the ECU - the Speed signal wire splits into two - one goes to the ECU, the other to the gauges. Generally, the speedometer conversion is done on the gauge wire, but the limiter is on the ECU wire.

I can't remember which is the correct wire to chop/splice though!

thanks a bunch, so if i have the block facing me with the wires going out of it away from me, would pin 16 be the bottom row, and 5th pin from the right working inwards

Thats right. I think its a green wire with white stripe and 2 silver dots. The one with a single silver dot is the baro wire. I think this is correct as i was dealing with these things today. But that is definately the pin you are looking for.

Is this speed line on the ECU only used for the limiter or is it likely to have any other effects? I'm not too impressed at only doing 120mph max and was planning on cutting the wire tomorrow while I work my way through the EBC install. I dont want to mes anything else up though.

Removed the pin from the block connector on mine when I did the conversion. No adverse reaction at all except limiting gone. Should point out mine is manual. Can't think that it should affect the auto, but don't know for sure.

I am sure several people have done this - no-one has ever reported problems. If there is a big problem, it's not hard to solder it back together!!

I'll try it Andy's way as it's tidier. I intend on adding an RSM again at some point so I can get a km/h readout without removing the converter. Then I won't need to do a dahsboard mod like Brad has.
