Thumbs up TCL + Engine warning lights

    Wow, sorted, thanks!

I had TCL Off light coming on when crawling in traffic. After a few stop-starts, the engine warning light would come on.

Thought I was heading for a new perssure valve or summat.

Found a few posts on it - ie this from Kieran
which said to find the grey pump on the bulkhead in front of the passenger, and push the two black pipes to make sure there's no leak...

    sorted.

    thanks!

old post I know, Im having the same problem, checked the pipes, seem fine...however, just under this grey pump thing there is a black plastic tank/pump thing, circle top, one of the pipes that goes to the grey pump splits off into this tank/pump. I checked the pip on that and the whole thing is loose, is it supposed to be.

its just below the grey pump towards the drivers side, one pipe going into the top, I can lift the tank up and down?

    Many thanks

That's the charcoal filter, as far as I know the pipe to that should be a different size and although it is a breather pipe it shouldn't be connected to the smaller pipes on the tcl system.
Make sure the small bore pipes are all seated properly and don't have any holes. Check the electrical connections to the two solenoids mounted on the bulkhead that some of those small pipes go to.

will do, I took the electrical connectors off and sprayed them with contact cleaner, they are pretty oiled up from when I drove 60 miles with no oil cap, the electrical cleaner didn;t get rid of the oil.
do you know if I can spray them with motorcycle chain cleaner (thats what I use to clean oil off the engine, I was reluctant to spray inside the electrical contacts but need something more than contact cleaner?
Should the charcoal filter be moving around, i can wiggle it quite freely?
Its not the same pipe but a breather pipe that comes off the main loom (the bunch of breather pipes) from source.

    Cheers Nick

Yeah, the charcoal filter just sits on a bracket.

If you have a multimeter then check the resistance of the solenoids. From memory they are around 40 ohms but don't quote me, if you get something different to that then it's worth searching the forums - it says somewhere on here.
