12psi , hmmm interesting that all manuals run at 0.85 bar as stock

cars before mid sept 1998 are pre , past this date they are post

you may have a leak but 5 psi doesn't sound that low

0.85bar in psi is what? i dont work in bar, psi is much easier

the lowest ive had mine read was 2 psi when i blew a turbo hose up and that was at very high rpm and the car would kangaroo

0.85 is 12 psi , the point i was highlighting is that 12 psi is far to high for a stock manual , maybe 0.6 bar at most

ah right fair enough, i though they were between 10-12 psi for a manual hence why they are 280bhp, unlike the autos which are 260bhp? or have i got confused somewhere along the lines

im sure mine made about 0.6 bar (8psi) when stock, certainly no more, that was 273bhp(280ps is you like) with a manual box

5psi doesnt sound terribly low, even if you cant find any obvious leaks try tightening all the clips on the pipework

My pre-facelift hovered around 5.8 psi when stock. Now holds 8.0psi with boost controller off (have zorst, sports cat, downpipes and Evo BOV).

Yeah, at the NZ dyno day over a year ago now, there was about 10 cars, and none of the stockers were at 5PSI, William had 8psi, and was down on power compared to the rest, most were around 9-11.

Id want to check a) that you gauge is correct, not some funny scale or anything,, then leaks as has been suggested, and after that possibly a problem with the boost solenoid or actuators?

Have a look at the DIY diagnostic thread, and see if there are any fault codes that might point to something too.

Might be a good excuse to see if a boost controller helps solve your issue

Just make sure you replace the stock BOV before you start upping the boost. The stock BOV itself is prone to leaks (I learned this the hard way!)

as side by john above in post 4,

Pre Facelift model is sept 1998 and before.

Post Facelift is sept 1998 onwards, this is when the car had a cosmentic facelift. and other small styleing tweeks but farly similar under the skin.

    Bye for Now!

As we all said on ozvr4, you boost isn't really that low, so don't worry.

It is however worth checking your BOV as said above.
