Galant VR2 vs Legnum VR4

Our 1998 Legnum arrived in NL last week and we've been prepping it for a show next weekend. Done a lot of things, but needs lots of things done to it though. Anyways... after a hard day working on it (changing oil, fitting PS-IIda downpipe, installed Pioneer radio/dvd/sat-nav/harddisk/ipod/bluetooth carkit/touchscreen-unit) we were up for a little race.

Our LHD Galant VR2 vs our RHD Legnum VR4!

The video is unedited, but just 5 minutes, and I think the 2 'laps' are worth viewing. But if you want it quick:
- First 40 secs
- At 1 min 40 sec
- At 3 min 05 sec
- At 4 min 30 sec

Oh and in the first few seconds... yeah.. that's me walking to the wrong side of the white Legnum at first (I'll get used to it, someday)

it was a fun race and next time i go in the vr4 to win from the vr2.

The VR2 has very strong acceleration on 3rd gear. It can beat VR4 at this point.

FWD will always have an advantage at speed on clear dry sweeping roads.

4WD will have the advantage in the wet off the line and powering through corners.

Swings and roundabouts! Personally, the 4WD is my choice!

Lee, we did the little races from standstill.

Next weekend (saturday & sunday 3/4 may) there will be an event called 'Full Speed' in Rosmalen (somewhat near Eindhoven). GalantFans.nl will attend both days with a maximum of 5 cars each day. If you want to come over: we have a few free tickets and on saturday we have an opening for 1 car on the clubstand, so we'd really like to have you and the Legnum there too ofcourse! Did you watch the whole clip?

The first 'launch' is only us driving to the start position 400 meters further on the straight road. When you wait you'll hear 3 honks, then wait another few secs and again you'll hear 3 honks (1st start was false). Then you'll hear us launching and coming towards the camera. After that we did the same race again.

The VR2 won both times. First 80 meters are exactly equal, but then the VR2 runs away from the VR4.
