Smile SARD R2D2 sound on Legnum VR-4

Here's a little sound clip of the SARD R2D2 BOV on my 97 pre-facelift Legnum VR-4 type S.

Sorry about the sound quality of the clip (TURN IT UP LOUD) but you should get an idea of the richness and refined nature of the noise this BOV makes. I think it's loverleee!

Note the low volume of the engine noise and the BOV can still be heard quite clearly. Imagine the engine growl of your Leggy, compare to the clip and you should get a feel for the volume of the BOV.

It's loud but doesn't seem TOO loud because of the type of sound it produces.

    If I may:
    Blitz SuperSound = Metallica
    HKS SSQV = Bjork/Kate Bush
    SARD R2D2 = Barry White

I plan on doing a couple of drive-bys with the video camera to see what this thing sounds like from the outside and I'll endeavour to stick 'em on here.

Had to put the mp3 file in a zip file 'cos the uploader doesn't like mp3s!

Nice! sounds very like the Apexi BOV I've fitted on the VR2, although that has a little bit of a mechanical clang into it and the SARD sounds more like a good clean ssssss.

Ahem, (speaking very quickly and softly so nobody can hear or understand), keeping this thread alive!
Surely there's a law against this sort of thing?
Seriously, the SARD R2D2 (here he goes AGAIN) is a lovely piece of kit and has a wondrous sound. I just want everybody in Leggyland and Galantville to hear it and BUY ONE!

    R2D2 Mwaaahh!

Awesome stuff, thanks for that. I now want a SARD.

But ... I'm a metalhead, so I might carry on rocking out with my Blitz.

I got mine from JPS Trading Ltd £130 + £21 delivery from Japan with the Legnum/Galant fitting kit (so it replaces std BOV under car).
You can get them cheaper but without the fitting kit.
Personally I wouldn't want to fashion a fitting bracket like the one I got with it.
Considering the prices charged for Blitz and HKS ones in the UK I thought it was, dare I say, a 'bobby bargain' (cringe!)
There's a link in reply no. 27 within this article:-

If they haven't got one listed on e-bay at the moment then here's their website address:-

Just do a search for EC5A or EC5W. Down the page to the left you can change the displayed currency so you know how many squids we're talkin'
or an e-mail contact for general enquiries: timcat2@netvigator.com

    Today the R2D2 was £122.65 and £21.29 postage = £143.94 less than I paid!

It will fit a Legnum but, as it isn't a recirculating type, you'll need a bung to block the pipe that would normally do the recirculating if you plan to position it where the factory BOV is. Also the SARD will just hang from the pipe you connect it to and, as you wouldn't want it to fall off or be banged off, some thoughtfully-placed cable ties (at least) would be a good idea.
I got mine with the Legnum/Galant fitting kit so I didn't have to mess about finding a bung and I could simply whack it on in no time. There was also a nicely designed metal bracket that bolted the SARD to an existing fixture on the underneath of the car, again, to ensure it is secure and doesn't move about and bang on things it shouldn't, oh... and to stop it falling off!
If you plan on fitting it anywhere other than where the original BOV is then good luck!

For anyone wanting one of these BOVs (or other BOVs maybe) it might be an idea to keep an eye on the pound:yen exchange rate and you could pick up a bargain ordering from Japan. Someone else said that a SARD R2D2 was retailing in Japan at sub £100 recently. Think it was in pitslayer's "cheap vs expensive BOV" article but I may be wrong.

Just checked RHDJapan - £115 with fitting kit (http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/R2D2...alve-Kit-9629), £83 without fitting kit (http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/R2D2...ad-Unit-19236). These are prices including delivery to the U.K. RHDJapan quote prices in US$ and the pound is strong against the US$ at the moment. Mine cost £151 only two months ago.

Thanks for the heads up apeman. Do you or anyone know the size of the pipe/bung needed..
Also does the engine need anywork as not being a recirc.
