early prefacelift vs late prefacelift VR4

was there any thing changed, updated etc from the 1st vr4 to the last prefacelift. what i mean by this is, the car was a new model in 1996 so there may have been some teething problems that were sorted out. just a thought

    Recalls, you mean?

And of course the super bridged some of the gap between pre and post.

prefacelift auto had 260bhp, facelift auto had 280.
the hubs are different pre and post, as brembos dont fit a pre but fit a post

edit: sorry just saw your last post...understand a bit better. i guess with most cars there will be some crossover points, might have some late prefacelifts with the above^^, there might even be some facelifts out there with pre parts... our old blue galant was a crossover 98 model, and was a complete PITA! to get bits for. it had some facelift V6 parts, and some Prefacelift V6 parts.

My early facelift has the type S bodykit, the facelift body shape inc. the bonnet, and the facelift hub carriers. I don't have ASC and TCL as seperate systems, as many pre facelifts do.

Not sure what else could be pre-facelift? Although I think that the AYC system changed slightly at some point.

I don't think enough changed on the pre/post change apart from the above mentioned to warrant any cross overs.

from what I was told by my mechanic is that the first lot of AYC diffs in the 96- Early 97 were problematic and sometime in 97 were changed in some way. Same issues that the EVO 4 had.

I couldn't figure out what was changed between the 2 tho.

Have just peeped in CAPS to see what part numbers come up for the diff on my old leggie(Pre-Facelift) and my Galant(Facelift) assuming that the drivelines are the same between Legnum and Galant.

    EC5W-001XXXXX

Rear Carrier Assy. RR Diff 3.312 - MR232580 or MR430996

    EC5A-0200XXX

Rear Carrier Assy. RR Diff 3.312 - MR430727

    Any Suggestions??

I think that the pressure switch changed. MPBVr4 is the man to confirm that. I was under the impression that it changed from a normally open to a normally closed switch. I could be wrong though!

If there is a known problem with the first generation of AYC diff's you wouldn't expect them to list a seperate part number would you ?

You would only be able to buy the improved version.
