    Fuel Tank Size

Have been reading that the tank is 60 litres. I am prettty certain my tank must be half this size. I normally fill up just as it gets below Quarter full. I then sqeeze about £35 to top it to the brim ! (150 miles) So can anyone tell me did later cars get larger tanks ?

Full to 3/4 tank is a big portion of petrol.. 100 miles* 3/4 to 1/2 is Piddly 50 miles *

1/4 to Empty is another big portion 100 miles*

You have filled up with around 20 litres left in the tank

They are all 60 litres. The gauges are terribly inaccurate. I would suggest simply driving it for longer before you fill up. Try for the empty line or at least wait until the light comes on.

I have got 58 litres in mine (I didn't have to push it to the pump either!) and I think Dodgy Wodgy above has managed a 59 litre pump! All VR4's from 96 on have the same size tank, so stop worrying. The needle gets to empty before the warning light comes on, and you'll still have 10 litres left then!

    Absolutely Totally and Absolutely disagree

I could judge my tank down to the last coupla miles

I always knew what mileage i had left in the tank at whatever point the needle was at !

I got 60.5 ltrs but i did run out completely and had to pusg the last 3 meters to the pump, then filled it right up the spout.

I ran mine for over a week with the light on. The needle was almost bending It was that low in fuel.
Filled it up with BP's ultimate..... & got just 50.79 ltrs in ??

It's a good job I found this... Somebody would've had a go if I had just asked...
My fuel guage was reading 1/8 left to empty pulled over into an Esso (Ducking) thought right fill-up only managed to get 38.51 ltr's into her...

Wodjno, the only thing I have to say is GEEK! Seriously the guages cant be that reliable 146.6 on 7/8 of a tank, combined booting and pottering in traffic.

The gauge is reliable, in that it is reliably pessimistic at the bottom. When the light first comes on you will have about 10-12 litres left. But the light doesn't come on until the needle is so low you are convinced you will run out of fuel.

I always fill up when the fuel light just begins to flicker and usually manage to get 49-51 litres in with three clicks of the pump. Havent done any MPG calculations for ages now though.

I have gotten used to the fuel gauge now and can judge exactly how many miles I can do on each tank from just looking at the needle. I managed 120 miles from the 1/4 mark before the fuel light began flickering!
