Hi all,
Anyone here experienced in building engines? I'm not very confident at open-block surgery (i'll pop lumps in and out all day long, but opening them gives me the willies) so I'm looking for someone to help me find parts and rebuild an early 4G63T.
Head is off, and has been skimmed and I need to lap the valves.
A Cometic headgasket will be bought, as will a normal cambelt, tensioner, and possibly water and oil pumps as the engine has been open for over a year.
A set of Evo 9 pistons is available, however they will need new rings fitting. The bores will need to be honed, but I don't think by very much...certainly not enough to warrant oversized pistons!
Uprated rod bolts will be fitted, as, I suspect will be uprated head studs, and balance shaft deletion.
Budget is around £900, and I know I SHOULD be able to this myself, hence wanting someone just to watch over my shoulder and stop me from leaving a 10mm socket in the combustion chamber or something equally stupid.
Well equipped by very messy workshop will be available.
In return there's an option of cash or hard labour, or the chance to use said workshop for your own nefarious car-related ends.
I've been putting this off for two years because of my lack of confidence...I don't want to spend £1000 on a big lump of scrap metal.
Please?
