    Apexi AVC-R's - OMFG !!!

Been keeping an eye on stock levels for these recently as may want one in April/May as part of my upgrade on the Evo.

Anyhow, one of the popular MLR traders has tonight posted he has some coming in next week.............and the price ?

    NOW £599 !!!

And apparantly the RRP is even higher ! Might have to snap one up off eBay, as a couple of USA sellers have them for about £350 delivered at the moment.

Is there a New Model out Pete ? Price seems rather inflated

As you can pick them up for much much less than that in the UK ?

Its not a new model Glenn, literally a price increase.

The prices are dependant on stocks. The MLR chap has been trying to get some for a couple of months....there just isn't any around. Anyone advertising them at the £400 mark may have old stock left, hence the cheaper price.

And there was me thinking £330 was bloody dear a couple months back

Pete, have you had a look at the Gizmo IBC. I have just installed one,
quality piece of kit and good value for money, not got as many functions as the AVCR, but a lot easier to set up. Holds boost very well. Shall see how well it performs next week once the new tubbie is fitted and remapped

For an evo, apexi avcr is the daddy, but they are rocking horse to get hold of!

    Cheers,

    Ben.

Hopefully managed to track one down for £375 (in black too) so that's a little better

Its wierd, some cars seem to 'like' certain boost controllers. Most twin turbos like Blitz DSBC spec R's, evos just seem to like avcrs.

The nice thing about them is that you can change duty cycle with rpm, so with an evo, since they spool like a mofo, you can use more duty cycle higher in the rpm to prevent the boost from dropping off. Same applies to the tetchy 4k boost cut on vr4's. You can hold the dc lower until the nasty bit in the map has gone at 4k, and then lift it to try to hold the boost better into the rpm.

    Cheers,

    Ben.

My preference on them is avcr because of the boost drop off issue and the 4k boost cut, but a dsbc will work well too.

    Cheers,

    Ben.
