So your ST is 4WD? And which diff has gone?

By 'change the whole setup', do you mean you might be considering, say, a VR-4/V6(4WD) manual gearbox?

I can't help, but wondering if these things might clear it up for those who possibly can!

Sorry for confusion it is a 4wd it is the front diff that has gone i thought changing the whole gear box diff set up would be easier than trying to repair the diff

Do you mean you just need the trasfer box then rather than a whole gearbox.

The Transfer box would do. I need a bit advice on the types of transfer box which would actually fit on my Legnum I would not like to scrap ity if i can help it but things arn't looking too good

The car is in good nick otherwise seats, Body work and engine are spot on not as fast as its big brother but fast enough for me

If you're car has the EC4W chassis code then it dosen't use the same transfer box as a VR4 but it may be that it is just the ratio that is different. Otherwise it may be very difficult to sort out unless you changed the rear diff as well to match the ratios if there is a large difference.

In the UK, honestly it is going to be hard to find a replacement. In NZ I'm willing to bet I could find one for you within 3 phone calls

The same transfer case is used on all 4wd NON-VR4's, so all 1.8, 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 non turbos. It is also used on chassis codes CL2A, CM2A, CM8A, these are 1500 and 2000 Diseasel Lancer Hatches, the same shape Lancer as EVO4-6, but obviously no the EVO's

I have NO idea if a VR-4 transfer case will fit in, or if the ratios are the same. They might just be a different part number because the VR-4 one will have been designed a heap stronger.
