Can I get one of these mailed to Ireland please? I'm slipping in every gear now and badly need a clutch replacement.
Does anyone know what the best clutch to buy would be and from where?
I want to replace everything to handle more power (and last).

Roberto, didn't you get your clutch changed? Where did you do it?

    I have this clutch http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MITSUBISHI-EVO...item2a053efeb1
The price has gone up a few quid since I bought mine, but it feels great and the clutch is handling the uprated torque figures very easily.

Just look for any Evo 6 or 7 clutch. They should go in the VR4 easily. Admittedly the high end clutches are probably overkill but the Exedy ones are pretty good.

EVO 6 clutches are 225mm, the same as an ST-R. You need a 7-9 clutch which is 240mm
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

How are these holding up with the EVO7-9 clutches after a bit of use can any of the earlier adopters provide some feedback?

I'm looking at clutch options currently so *might* need something similar...

I have not had any negative feedback. The people I know who are using them are still happy - I have sold quite a few now to people I don't know though!

I've had one on my car for a year or so now and have had no cause for concern. The clutch is an Evo 7 Exedy one and is comfortable with the 350ft/lb of torque my car produces.

why fix it the right way first time - when excessive swearing can occour when it all goes wrong when you don't?

Now with 5.7 liters of V8 muscle

I'm looking at clutch options currently so *might* need something similar...

I bought one of these kits and an exedy racing clutch kit and a lightened flywheel.
First and foremost the kit worked perfectly, the longer bolts and the spacer.

After the replacment though I did have trouble with the clutch (which isn't part of what Nick's selling) so maybe if you're planning on buying the same clutch I did this info might be good for you.

At the start the bite was practically either on or off. Very jumpy starts ALL the time but after a while (and a fair amount of clutch burning smell) it eased off and I can start almost normally.

The clutch pedal was as stiff as ..... after the change. So now, my right arm AND my left leg are well built.

    This led to issues:
    1. Some kind of pressure regulator (I think) in the clutch hydraulic system has a circular disc in it, which cracked under the pressure meaning I wasn't able to disengage the clutch. This had to be bypassed. I guess it's like an appendix in that you don't really need it???
    2. The clucth pedal FELL OFF! Yes, the clutch after about 4 months of being depressed couldn't take the strain anymore and broke at it's hinge in the clutch pedal box. This had to be replaired as I couldn't find this as a spare part.

Now, the clutch is still heavy, but it works and it certainly puts the power down.
If I had to do it again though, I probably would have gone for a less 'performance' option.

gee118, the issues you report about on/off operation initially were exactly the same as I had on my OS Giken - a nightmare for around town driving. However, like yours, it has now calmed down.

I also found I had to bypass the clutch damper unit (the pressure regulator you describe) because the internal circular disc had a hairline crack across it which leaked fluid overnight and meant the clutch had to be pumped each morning to prime the piston again. Apparently it's a common 'upgrade' to bypass the clutch damper as it allows you to feel the clutch bite point better (at the loss of a smoother action). All I know is it works fine without it!

    Thanks for your reply Phosty.
Ya, when I brought the car into the garage they actually welded the plate back up again, no sooner was the clutch almost bled before a hairline crack appeared in it again.
Is your clutch pedal stiff as well?

It's a firm pedal feel, but not stiff. You'll get used to it I'm sure.
