    Lash adjuster removal/replacement tool

When speaking to Phosty at the weekend he mentioned that there is a tool for removing and replacing the lash adjusters rather than by the screwdriver and crowbar type method.
They are listed by a couple of people on ebay one of which is here

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

And a video of one in use on the DSM forums here .You can make it yourself but for £10 and to make this job a lot easier seems like a bargain

If you look in the article about doing the adjusters you will find that Sausage already posted this stuff up

    It only mentions these engines:

    "SUITABLE FOR DOHC 1.6L & 2L 4 CYLINDER, 3L 6 CYLINDER, 3.5L 6 CYLINDER ENGINES"

Will it be OK on our 2.5L?

i missed this info in the article as well so this thread should stay.

tool look good and less likely to get trapped fingers.

maybe the tool would be slightly better if it had a flat bit that sits on top of the spring rather than just the width of the tool. but i am sure there is a width restriction on the tool due to where you have to slide it in.
you get what i mean though

    Bye for Now!

If you read the version in the resource library, it doesn't have any comments attached. The version in the articles sections has all the comments, including Sausage's!

Speaking of which, I still don't really understand why the resource library and articles section are separate entities, especially when a lot of the content in one is repeated in the other. Sometimes the versions are also *slightly* different (such as the autobox flush & change where one has an edited picture, but the other doesn't, and this affects which pipe you use to drain the old fluid out!). I know it's a bit of a tangent, but was this a development thing from a couple of years ago that wasn't completed?

i think the lazst group buy on lash adjusters got the price down to £140. which was great. certainly beats the £228ish from camskill and ebay.

unfortunately i don't remember where they came from. i got a set from someone who was in the original group buy and didn't fit them.

I've been looking into replacements and if the ones I'm looking at are correct they will be less than that price

did my lasher about 10K ago and not heard a TICK out of them since. well worth doing. Even if it just getting rid of the embarisment factor.

i still do regular oil changes as this will be the only thing that keeps the quiet.

Forget the ebay ones, i have a friend with very bad experiences (2 lash adjusters stuck in the closed position and one had a crack across it)Dumped them after 2k miles and got mitsi ones. The ebay ones are chineese and very low quality. Like a lot of chineese stuff it looks the part but is made of low grade materials. The only thing chineese products are for is to relieve people of money and be just good enough that the person doesn't feel like they were robbed!

I would go for original Mitsibushi parts only. I have no idea what they cost though? Does anyone know the OE part price?

Not sure about camskill, some stuff is very good and a lot of stuff is chineese so you would have to find out if the camskill ones are the same as the ebay ones or if they are OE or better parts.
