Keith one problem could be, if you remove the roof rails, as far as I know, you will be left with holes in the roof.

So that one might need a re-think.

And have a good read about induction kits, as most end up causing you to loose power rather than gain power, due to the shape of the air flow over the MAF sensor.
Unless your thinking of getting rid of the MAF with a stand-alone ECU.

I agree with Roberto on the induction kit - however if you are going to box up the pod where the battery is, at the very least it will be better than what you currently have.

Quite like the gauge pod except for the hole it leaves in the dash. Where did you get it from?

Nice job. Thought the hole was a bit far forwared from the clock.

Loving that pod...you may be my inspiration!

Good result on the battery, but a word of caution: it needs to be vented outside the car, or charging may result in a nasty build up of very toxic fumes on a long journey. Ideally you use a sealed battery (like Optima or similar) or a dedicated battery box. Nothing to stop you using a pair of mini-batteries, however, and a decent charging circuit.

If you're certain it's a "zero emission" battery, then cool.
I bought a "Sealed" battery from Halfords, but what that actually meant was "Zero Maintainance". It still had a vent on it, much to my annoyance: it was hidden under a plastic cap!

Wheel colours look "YUK" maybe an age difference thing. Actually I'm sure it is. Removing the roof rails is simple, and the hole can be filled with black plastic trim buttons set in black PU sealer. With the colour of your car you'd never spot the buttons.
If you're looking for bigger brakes, take a look at K-sport, they do a straight forward bolt on set for the legnum. Also search K-sport and you should find a few posts I put up regarding fitting.
Great to see yours is another manual, I believe of the 20 or so VR4's in Ireland over half of them are manual.
Good luck with the work and youthful enthusiasm.

I got my first Legnum when I was 19, and my VR-4 when I was 20. I still have that VR-4 and since then I've owned 2 other VR-4's and had 6 Legnums in total now

I have owned a set of those BBS wheels and they are extremely lightweight. Unfortunately they have a poor offset, making them look very sunken on the car and they don't have much brake clearance.
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

I agree about the battery venting. I have suffered breathing difficulties at work when i was in a room with a charging battery for a few ghours, the back of my throat went funny and i felt pretty ill. Not goo when confined into a car.

As you have mounted the battery on the left and as i have just been fiddling behind the boot liners. You may want to have a look behind the carpet sides. The rear cheeks of the car are very deep and there is a couple of inches more to recess the battery into the side out of the boot space if you cut the carpet sidea about and make a custom tray.

You could slao use the cheeks to vent in and out of, there is a big grommet at the bottom that vents any spilt oil and condensation to the outside. Maybe you could exploit that a little.

Also the biggest word of warning. A battery is heavy and will easily tear off a light mount and insert itself into your back or head in a crash so make sure the mount is very substantial. people very often die or suffer severe injuries in RTAs when tradesmens tool boxed shoot through the rear seats in cars and small vans.
