    ****ing sunt rear plugs

won't come out... Stupid ****ing spark plug remover won't get the ****ing piece of **** out - have tried a million ****ing times and the **** just won't get out of the hole.

    Any ideas please?

Pliers i have don't reach. Am livid as I want to finish this before it gets dark. As you can tell, I am mildly annoyed.

Okay I think I'm worthy of my New Zealand passport - used some "Kiwi ingenuity" and wrapped some electrical tape around the inside of the spark plug remover to make it a bit "sticky" for extra purchase.

Worked after a couple of goes. Only two more to go

Just thought of something even better and it works a charm!

Loosen the plug so that it is ready to remove and then use the spark plug lead to extract it Worked first time!

Ryan - the socket set I have has one for removing spark plugs, it has a rubber washer in the end to hold the plug

or you can use a section of vacuum hose to slip over the end. I find with the spark plug socket rubber bungs is they easily come free from the socket so when you put plugs in they stick to the plug when you pull the socket out.

the knob end put it all together and jammed the throttle cable underneath,
he has to take it all apart again, lol

and he didnt re-gap the plugs so wont run high boost anyway.

fuel: I have very little tools so had to make do with what I had (ie: no vacuum hose). I imagine the spark lead would be less fiddly to get over the terminal nut.

And yes, as Carsten said I had to undo everything to sort the throttle cable. I am now missing both screws that secure the mount to the intake manifold. Those screws must be made of chalk because that's two that have broken in half leaving the remnants inside so now cable ties are doing the job.

mattnz: no bluetak unfortunately, no means to obtain it when the car's in pieces

Adie: Yes, it has solved the problem

Didn't end up regapping plugs as couldn't be arsed with the whole saga anymore. Went to Repco to find a gapping tool whilst clutching the feeler gauges I wanted to buy. He said, "you're holding it". I was like... "pardon? These are to measure the spark gap, I need something to actually change the gap *surprised look* "Oh, I'll see if we have any..." (They didn't).

did you use standard plugs? I find if you tap the end of the plug on something it closes down the gap, just make sure you do it lightly enough each time.

There's two - a screwdriver for opening the gap up, and a kerb for closing it!

I'd advise having your own screwdriver.

I even reminded myself "Don't forget the throttle cable"... to no avail. Was just about to tighten the clamps on the Y-pipe when I looked over to where it was supposed to be mounted and my heart just sank...

Peered underneath and sure enough, there it was... stuck as could be. That metal frame thing attached to the firewall resisted all my efforts to bend it in order to slip the cable through.

    Cue more swearing.

Hopefully I won't have to worry about that for the next 50 000km or so before I check them again. Good idea though.
