Chris, it was a tongue-in-cheek response to your sarcastic comment that brad is always technically correct.

We HAVE been through the drivetrain discussion on here, as has MLR at great length. You're right, same size wheels and tyres all round is best. So is 260bhp, 100RON fuel and not covering it in salt every Winter. But we're all breaking those rules.

As brad says, the loadings on the various drivetrain components at less than 10mm difference in wheel diameter is so tiny it's actually less than the force experience by these same components when going round a roundabout.

I agree with you: if fitting wheels and tyres, go for all the same size: there is not advantage in doing it any other way.

I disagree with some of the "OMG sh!t l00k the Sky is falling" posts.

I'd like to be able to change my two front tyres without doing the back ones, anyone know the tread depth on a new eage F1 Assym? if the rolling radius hasn't changed too much (backs are barely worn after 4500 miles) I'm sure I could get way with it

The differences being discussed are no more than typical tyre wear can achieve. 4WD isn't THAT fragile on these cars.

true..mitsbishi also delivered the 3000gt beckenbauer edition with different tyre sizes front and rear was 235s upfront and 255 or 275s in the rear iirc

Ah yes but the different sized wheels/tyres were ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT

My MR2 has 225x50x15 at back and 195x555x15 at the front as STD..

Owners can decide what they want, why shouldn't I give an opinion...

It's not technical advice, but hey, it's my opinion...

Pablo, prefacelifts (all with ayc) were delivered with 205's and facelifts with ayc were 225's, while facelifts without ayc were 205's.

We still need to know how wide the wheels are to decide what you should be doing.
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

Technically yes and no.. the beckenbauer 3000gt was a limited run of 500 cars..this car was introduced in 1994 because of the emminent release f the facelift 3000gt in europe and the fact that the "older " non faelift cars were sitting on the lots.. so they quickly sprayed em over in yellow! fitted different springs, and bbs rims with different widths(staggered fittment) and invited their football advertising figure to sign the B pillars.. and sell them as "special versions ".. worked .

    wheel frnt[IMG02] http://www.sportscars.no/salgs/3gt2s.jpg[/IMG02]

AFAIK the Beckenbauer cars, being pfls had the fl 6 speed getrag transmission as this was first available on EU spec 3000 gts .

They didnt do any testing as the Beckenbauer gts where thrown together in a number of weeks . havent heard of any diffs breaking because if the staggered wheel fittment,so i assume it was ok.

with standard wheels you should run 205/55/16 all around.

Can you show us a pic of the rear tyres sitting on the wheels?

A 1990 car with 4850Kms on the clock, is that right?? Still, I wouldn't pay ~10K Euro for a 20yo Stealth personally, but I am sure someone would.
