    Tuning help

Hi guys as some of you may know i squeezing a vr4 lump into my FTO. But i am a total newb when i comes to turbo cars and engine tuning. the reason i went for the conversion is that i wanted reliable power. but i would like to get the VR4 block to about 300bhp (just a nice number i think)lol. What small mods can be done to safely up the power a little. the car will already have an apexi filter and aftermarket exhaust. I have heard people talk about boost controllers being a simple way to up the boost and get some extra power. but usually with engine tuning you have to change a few things to make it all work correctly and i havent a clue where to start. Any advice?

at standard boost the 6a13tt is rated at 280bhp for the manual version, upping the boost to 13psi ish should get you 300bhp fairly easily. OBVIOUSLY a free flowing exhaust and air filter and intercooler will get your more as will high flow fuel pump, bigger injectors etc etc. 300bhp should be very easily attainable its when you start going for 350 and higher you need to think about changing components

the engine came from a auto VR4 but i am running it throught the FTO gearbox. i have an evo 8 front mount on (which i have heard has an exellent core) standard boost is 0.6 bar isnt it? so i would be looking at upping it to 0.9 ish. Just read the thread about some crazy people re-mapping ecu's looks like a viable option for me. i will let eurospec get her running stock before i start to go mad and mod some more though.

Would the mapped ECU be a good option along side a boost controller or wll the boost controller be obsolete as the boost would of been upped on the map?

The boost will be set on the mapped ECU. So if you went for the mapped ECU you wont need boost controller.
The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space

If eurospec are involved, just talk to them about power. They can talk you through all the options and theres no tuner in the UK with more experience of the 6A13TT AFAIK.

Eurospec are the people compleating my build. Mark and ben are awsome but I wanted to get some knowlage for myself without bothering them too much. It was mark that mentioned to me that the ecu had been cracked. Tbh it's going to move like **** off a shovel running stock. Will have a chat with mark about the ecu map when the car can move without me pushing it lol. Thanks guys.

As above, Eurospec will do you right.

VR4 lump,. exhaust and a remap is likely to see you with 300bhp relatively easily anyway: you might want to couple it with an intercooler if funds allow, but I'd say it's probably not essential.

    Oh your poor drive-train.
But overall that should go like absolute stink, can't wait to hear how she turns out.
So what if it aint broken, doesn't mean it can't be improved upon.
