    Timing belt tensioner/pulley question

Hi, looking for some more fantastic CVR4 advice. I am going to get the timing belt changed on the VR4 and want to get the tensioners/pulleys replaced also, there is a kit on Camskill that includes a tensioner, there is also centre idler pulley on Camskill not part of the kit. Is this all that I require?

Now, I have also had recommended to me a Blue Print timing belt kit, which should include all tensioners and pulleys required. I can get one of these kits for £102 (not cheap). But another supplier doesn't sell the 'kit' but has the Blue Print cambelt for £65 and the tensioner for £20. My question really is does the Blue Print kit come with anything extra that I'll be missing if I buy the two parts separately?

    Many thanks

Have a look at the cambelt change article and you'll see where each bit goes.

Cheers for the help guys. Just got a question regarding the hydraulic tensioner, how big of a deal is this? I guess it depends what sort of shape it's in but generally, should I be safe not replacing this but doing all the other bits?

    Thanks

I changed mine as I thought it isn't worth the risk of engine damage for an extra £100 compared to the price of an engine

Good practice is to replace one every 2nd cambelt job, i.e. 100k miles.
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

Many thanks. It's being done first thing on Friday and he's going to inspect the condition of the hydraulic tensioner for me. So we shall see.
