7202/3 ECUs and 7201 ECUs are interchangable so these remapped ECU's can be used on any car.

We'll also give the same trade in of £100 for 7202/3 ECU's.

John I notice you've got MarkSanne on that list, he's told me previous that he can't make the RR but I'll be driving by where he's staying near Oxford if you want me to drop this off for him? I've got to drop a Nardi wheel off for him anyway

(Naturally he'll have to arrange posting his old ECU back to you)

The map we've got at the moment is suited to a standard pump thats delivering Mitsubishi's intended amount of fuel. Unfortunately due to wear and tear a lot of fuel pumps aren't delivering as much fuel as they should - without going on a dyno or doing some wideband AFR sensor logging you won't know how efficient your fuel pump is.

So not everyone needs a new fuel pump but without getting afr readings done it's a guessing game.

Feeling a bit deflated by the results at the RR day on Saturday.

I was hoping to see some good results from these ECU's but only Karl got it done.

Got a couple of questions. I'm not having a go just some thoughts I'v had since seeing results from the RR day.

1: What happens if you fit one of these ECU's & start running lean for one reason or the other after it has been fitted & you have no way of knowing?

2: With Karls car It was very low on power on its runs with the ECU that was in his car. I now you got him 50bhp more but it sounds more like a fix than a power gain.
The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space

Sorry I have been busy and not had chance to answer

    1) The simple answer is the same thing that would happen now with your current ecu but sooner - if you run too lean you more than likely will hit knock , the ecu will then retard the timing ----- The answer to the real question is that you are a little closer on the fueling to knock than stock , not much but enough that you could casue damage .

    2) Yes Karls power was low to start with , we fitted our tweaked ecu and he gained a nice chunk of power - Was this a fix to his problem , no not at all. His real issue is most likely a boost leak or a boost related issue -> I'm due to meet up with Karl next week and go though things on his car to try and lift a little more power from it

Thanks for the answer John. I look forward to seeing the results with Karls car.

Would it be better to have some sort of AFR gauge fitted before having your ECU fitted then?

Personally, I would always say AFR's should be monitored when modifying a car. As to whether you need to permanently monitor them or not.... That's a different question. But with PLX widebands including a basic gauge for silly cheap, I would always fit one of those to any car I owned that I was tinkering with!

Are these still available ? and will it fit my 01-07-1997 build Leggie ?

And will handling this over mail be any problem ?

Only just now starting looking for upgrades because i own a Legnum for 10 days now.
Not my first VR4, but those 2 are even older than the Legnum, 1990 & 1995, both Saloons.

Nice to hear, i will contact MarkSanne i he already fitted his and maybe we can checkout the status of my Fuelpump and AFR. Will get back on this.

Only one concern on my end, how will the A/T hold up, can it cope with this much Power ? Just asking because my Older 1990 & 1995 VR4's have an ATF overheating warning light on the Dash, haven't seen anything like that on the Leggie. And yes, if you Launch it Twice it Will overheat.

I'm not in the UK a lot, and moreover it's $%&@$& expensive to do so.

But next time the Dutch blokes are invited, i'm in i guess.

Wodjno is correct on all 3 answers

I've not personally had any transmission problems, the map we're currently supplying isn't particularly brutal and there's plenty of people out there running 1bar of boost without issue. So assuming you have a healthy gearbox it should be fine.

Raymond, the auto boxes on the legnums seem to be able to handle a fair amount of power. However, fitting an A/T oiltemp sensor is on my personal to-do list. And after keeping an eye on it I'll see if I want/need to fit an extra cooler.

Besides heating, the wave spring issue (do a little search) is probably the only thing that is prone to cause direct and irreverable damage.

I'd certainly recommend the fitment of an oil-cooler for the gearbox.
