    Nurburgring 700

8 hours of the 'Ring' in open pitlane format for £900

    http://www.trackdays.co.uk/tours_exp...ring_700/1074/

Do you think its worth it?

Personally the only attraction is the open pit lane format and availability of track day insurance means you could really push your way around this.

Downside is the price for just 8 hours. Unlimited laps? How much thrashing of your car is needed to make this value for money.

Deep down i suspect this is aimed at 'track cars' only?

Reason I ask is i have been invited with another group who are going under this operator.

All comments good or bad please!
    Still here somewhere........

Yeah far too expensive mate !

What may be worth considering and discussing in more detail in October is doing the Old Timers race next year.

Buy a car that qualifies, have 3 or 4 drivers (lasts approx 8 hrs) and split the costs - 1000km on the Nurburgring/Nordscleiffe

No not worth it at that price

Loook for BaT at, IIRC, £495

But at moment AFAIK to prev customers if they cannot fill it, it will be worth it with them I would say

As long as you value traffic/idiot free laps and who wouldn't at the Ring

Plan on maybe 25-30 laps, more if you are really keen and money for petrol - I have done about 25 on a public day some years ago

    10 minute lap approx - 2/3 at a go - 20/30 minues on Ring - 20/30 rest

Tyres will need to be good nick - ideally take semi-slicks and wets just in case

Or just semi-slicks and road tyres for journey

Road tyres/wheels can go on car if slicks going off towards end of the day

And semi-slicks should last a day of lapping

Take usual pads, fluid, oils etc for the trip, but more partic pads...

That link is to a three night trip which includes two public days at the Ring, not a open pitlane track day??

Or am I looking at the wrong thing?

50 car max may be what's going on - difficult to tell

At that price you are paying top money for access but half usual entrants and twice the usual money

Usual private trackday at Ring is 100-120

With those numbers, 100-120, it would still be a good trackday and best deal for money and entrants

I thought Old Timers GrandPrix/Festival/Weekend was for the F1 track with various events/vehicles...

...and older qualifying cars/clubs had a relatively short run out/race on the Ring...

Never known it be 8hrs race on the Ring but may have changed in recent years

24/8/4 hr races on the Ring are AFAIK the VLN or the the other race class/series

Yeah they are doing it this year Chris.....first time since the 80's ! It actually knackered the weekend we were going to book in September. Luckily I checked the dates just before I booked the ferry/house.

It's always 1000km AFAIK, just usually on the F1 circuit only.

All included - ferry - private trackday - 50 cars - 2 nights 'luxury' hotel for 2 people - and evening buffet meal...

    Not bad...

It's a premium for the trackday but so few cars...

A one-off visit - somebody to share costs who will share the room...
