There's 4 bolts going horizontally into the manifold. Two on each side.

Plus the two on the top near the front/middle (which it looks like you've missed)

    Cheers Gary,
Was staring straight at the ones on top....

    Couple more things....
Got the manifold to move now but seems to e restricted by the throttle body? Anything here that could be an issue?
Are you both still up for the Essex Meet?

    Take the inlet elbow off.

Then you'll have enough to lift up the driver's side of the inlet manifold, and get to everything without unplugging/unplumbing anything else.

I used a small spanner between the cam cover and underneath of the manifold to hold it up!

Not sure yet on the Essex meet, depends on whether we can get up to my dad's that weekend or not.

Hi Andy, you should have let me know you were tackling this I could have given you a hand, I only done this what three weeks ago......... as above stick an old rag in the tubs to prevent crap from falling in also just make sure when to you refit the intake manifold that you line the gasket up corrently and you dont trap any pipe work of wires, I also tightened up the heads, that should stop any oil leaks you may have under there.......

First time I did this, I had a piece of wood in place of the spanner in Garry's pic, which worked okay. Next time, I took the inlet manifold off from the throttle body completely. After that, I have found that I can leave it attached to the throttle body, but get the inlet manifold much higher than before, which makes working on the rear bank a lot easier, and without the need to faff around lining up the throttle body again (which I found a PITA previously) - needs a bit of wiggling to do though.

Would additionally recommend a rag to cover the inlet holes too.

would also recommend cable tying the throttle cable to the rear bulkhead the minute you unbolt it!!!

    Great tip!

Otherwise you put it all back together and realise that the cable is underneath the manifold! Which I have never done, naturally...

Great tip indeed - I've had to do this job twice on two occasions because I've forgotten about that blasted cable. There's nothing worse than tightening up the last bolt on the front strut brace and then leaning backwards to ease the pain in your lower back and admire your handiwork, when all of a sudden it dawns on you...
