    Oil Pressure Gauge

    (collating into one thread)

Looked at a few threads for a few ideas, I've landed on the following combo, this leads on from my oil light flicker thread.

As i have 1 Din space im going to get this 3 position (3 x 2"/52mm) Gauge Pod - fits standard radio slot

I've only got a few pennies to spend atm, so will only go for the pressure Gauge so looking at theses.

52mm Smoked Super White (Light & Beep) Oil Pressure Gauge (BAR)

52mm Stepper Motor Super Blue (Warning) Oil Pressure Gauge

Ill need a sandwich plate, so i think this is the one?

    Oil Pressure/Temperature Sender Adaptor (M20 x 1.5mm)

    Smaller Oil Filter.

    AMSOIL SDF-13

Any other recommendation on 52mm Gauges?

Do i need anything else other than whats listed above?

    Thanks

Dont think so Barry. I have a couple of gauges to go on my car and have almost the same bits as you listed above. Sandwich plate (and bits) and the gauges (and bits. I still need to fabricate my clock pod to mount the two gauges but if you use the triple slot thingy above, it'll be fine. I've seen Nev's setup and it looks good.

No sure if you realise, if you fit one gauge, you'll have two empty holes in under the stereo

    Hehe, only messing.

I know people have rated the R-Spec gauges, and the ones with the peak button have been well received by people. I bought cheapo ones from eBay, but if I keep the car long-term, I will try to get myself those peak buttoned R-Spec ones.

Personally would prefer the gauges higher so my sight lines didnt have to travel down off the windscreen.

R-Spec gauges are the dogs danglies, really suit the VR4. Good choice
    Still here somewhere........

The only other thing you may need is some additional cable and connectors to extend the signal cable from the oil pressure sensor as the supplied cable will probably not be long enough.

As Miller said, I was thinking about that pod slot thing, but I think I would spend too long looking at the gauges and not the road...
Got myself some spare pillars and gonna mould some pods onto that...
I got a spare unused, prosport smoked psi boost gauge, you can have its the red and white version similar to above, but has a slightly thicker rim...

The R-Spec cable supplied will just reach a pillar pod on the drivers side.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I think I have solved the issue. I'll upload pics and description to the light flicker thread shortly .

I'm going to shelve buying a gauge for now.

    Oh, hai....

Been looking at Gauges again, found the following deal on Ebay.

"ANY 3 GAUGE OFFER - Prosport Super White Series"

    $(KGrHqF,!isE2KEr8(lzBNvuL1zRRw~~_12.JPG

This fantastic offer is for Any 3 of the following Prosport Smoked Super White gauges

    Boost – Psi (Mechanical)
    Boost – Bar (Mechanical)
    Oil Temperature (Electrical)
    Oil Pressure (Electrical)
    Water Temperature (Electrical)
    Volt (Electrical)
    Vacuum (Mechanical)
    Rev Counter
    Air / Fuel Ratio (Electrical)

Please confirm at the checkout the 3 gauges required.
I found a few threads which rated them so I don't think offer is to shabby?

So, i need 3 but which? i searched a few threads and found a common theme seems to be, oil temp, oil pressure and boost.

But I was thinking maybe having the following combo..

    Oil Pressure
    Air/Fuel Mix
    Boost

I do however have boost on my EVC, so maybe..

    Oil Pressure
    Air/Fuel Mix
    Oil Temperature

If you had to choose 3 from the list above, which would you and why?

    Thanks
    Barry

How is it measuring the AFR? Is it a narrowband gauge?

air/fuel is a narrowband Barry. Not worth a hassle.
    Get oil pressure and temp.

Yep, I agree with Mr. Swinks! The AFR will not give you any accurate info, just generalisations. I'd leave that and get something else.

I had on of these, it will just swing wildly at idle and read rich at an throttle input, and lean when decelerating. Useless for any kind of monitoring, but I gues it looks cool if that's your thing.

On a plus point tho it did make me realise how useless the factory o2 set up is.

Ok maybe that does need a bit of clarification.
With the narrow band set up the ecu sees AFR's as a voltage between 0 and 1. The resolution is too low, hence why they flick back and forth.
With wideband its between 0 and 5, giving it a higher resolution and allowing the control to be more accurate.
