I also found the Admiral "experience" quite good too. This is the 2nd year I ahve been with them and was very careful to make sure everything was added to my policy (mods etc). The telesales people were very friendly and efficient - I even managed to bag a reduction by a bit of phone haggling (without reducing my level of cover).

From my experience a big thumbs up to Admiral

Quick update, I've agreed a price with the seller and now need to look at sorting out insurance etc. I'm only 4 months into my policy with Elephant and it looks like their quote is obscene so may have to go elsewhere. If I was to cancel my elephant policy would I receive a rebate?

Main thing holding me back is its an automatic. Ive never driven an automatic and whilst I would be fine picking it up I'm not convinced my missus would. She's only been driving a year as well!

The autos are the proverbial POP to drive. Don't worry about it. Mrs B drives mine all the time, and it was her first auto.

You might be lucky to get around 40% of your premium back from Elephant. I can't remember the figures (which are understandably ramped in favour of the insurer!), but it might be around that. You can but ask!

How concerned should I be about this? I'm reliably informed it's the car for sale!

the auto box is great its the only auto car ive ever driven and i have to say i like it alot ( not that i wouldn;t prefer a manual to stop Mrs. PoM from driving it) but it really is a case of put it in D and mashing the Fast pedal!!

Struggling with insurance quotes as I didn't realise my three years no claims can only be used on one policy (the leggy would be a second car) so may have to lower my expectations, as nice an example as the 2001 UK one I posted earlier was.

Seen this pop up on ebay today and the fella lives local:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=320603612721

Checked his feedback to see what he had been buying and there are a few legnum parts on there

    http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayIS...eedbackAsBuyer

    Any opinions would be appreciated!

Later and earlier cars will be much of a muchness to insure.

Couple of points on it - unless it's been honed/stroked/etc. then it will be a 2.5 not a 2.6. And standard power is 260PS in the PFL auto.

It appears to have rust on the wheelarch (as stated in the ad) which is the most common place. It may however mean that the car has been in the UK for quite a while, and you would be well advised to thoroughly check underneath the car for any further signs, in case it has never been undersealed.

Just checked, and it was imported in summer 1999. And DVLA have it listed as a 2600CC! Which will be where the eBay ad info was populated from.

Don't know if the boost controller he purchased is on it?

A potential bargain to be had though.

Just had a mail from the seller, first thing that concerned me is he claims the speedo has been converted to MPH but the mileage odometer shows 110,000KM (not miles). I explained to him the import mileage was in KM then everything since the speedo was converted is miles but he wasn't having any of it! He's also only owned it for four months and said he is selling to fund the purchase of a hi lux.

I'm waiting on some better quality pics to be mailed over, sounds like he is desperate to sell, I reckon I could get it for around £1500 - £2000 with some hard bargaining leaving cash left over to get the rust sorted.

Don't suppose there are any knowledgable leggy owners near Leicester who would be willing to come check it out? I'd obviously be happy to pay fuel costs + a pub meal somewhere

    hi there paul
right the the car has done 110032 km, in the last two months i have had a full cat back stainless steel exhaust system which come with a full life time warranty by midlands exhaust, brand new blue print breaks*and blue print pads all round,*i have had a hks dump value fitted, it has also got aftermarket alloys with four good tyres on*them.
it has got full cream leather interior which there isn't any scuff or rips in it.
to the best of my knowledge the only work that needs doing is the rust spots on the rear arch which i have had priced up for about £150 i think but for as long as i have owned the car*it has never bothered me.
this car has got the automatic with tip tonic gear box. it also has a*traction control button. all electrics work*well.
    *
the car also has parking sensor front and rear also automatic lights.
    *
viewing very welcome by all means
    *
look forward to speaking to you on the phone cuz i properly have missed*a lot more about the car.
    *
    many thanks

    james

When I saw the ad at the start of the thread I thought this was Nick Mann's old Car. After seeing the youtube link I'm sure it is.

Maybe an Idea to pm Nick see what has to say about it.
The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space

It was thanks aboo, Nick PM'd me about it. As nice an example as it was the guys asking price would of cleaned me out so I'm thinking about going for an older / higher mileage one at a lower price and see how I get on with it.

Any thoughts on my previous post appreciated!

Been to see it, it has clubvr4 stickers! Very odd coloured leather interior, creamy beige colour but in very good condition and very comfy! Theres rust on the o/s rear wheel arch which is quote bad and just starting to bubblebon the n/s rear arch. 1600 is his asking price I can probably get him down a little more. What do we think gents? He's fitted a dump valve and digital turbo timer, will this affect insurance much or do I not need to declare?

Remove the turbo timer and fit a stock dump valve. Doesn't need either! Unless you like the VTA sound.

The leather looks like the standard beige moo cow.

Right ladies and gents, I am now within touching distance of owning my first Legnum! Agreed a price with the seller pending an MOT at a local Mitsubishi specialist garage, the mechanic said he's never worked on a Legnum before! Is there anything in particular I should ask the mechanic to look out for as I know absolutely nothing about the mechanical side of things, the most complicated thing I've done is changing a wheel!

Fingers crossed it all goes well and I will purchase tomorrow! Managed to get a great deal with insurance from Admiral multicar, £1150 for the legnum & the Golf V5 (with the missus as the main driver & she's only been driving a year).

Will keep you updated and up some pics at the first opportunity! (insert excited noise here) Will definitely be looking at sorting the rust out on the wheel arches & maybe replacing the cream leather interior as well as getting shot of the turbo timer and dump valve...
