    G'day

I'm Max, 17, male, hailing from New Zealand (top of the south).

Bought a '98 VR4 a month ago; just my second car. Got thinking and searching about what I should do with it (so much potential!) and noted Club VR4 come up in every search.

This is where I'm meant to be.

Sorry if I ask a stupid question here or there - definitely here to learn, not teach.

Searching this site will end up with you finding all sorts of random stuff out, plus maybe some useful stuff too!

    Thanks for the welcome.

Will take some pictures of her in the next few days. She needs a bit of a tidy up. Bought well-maintained and almost stock, save a decent 3" exhaust. Fitted a HKS pod filter today, oil change, new oil filter, radiator flush and new coolant. Stuff that didn't really need doing, but stuff I think is a good idea to do.

As far as aesthetics go, my mission is to repaint the alloys as the white paint on 'em looks a bit tatty.

    Welcome Maxie...

You will prob read if you search and be told in this thread that pod filters are to be avoided

Not so good for VR-4 so best to sell it on and get std air intake with improved panel filter

    Enjoy your car

And to our late-comer selling a car just look around for the SALE section and follow sticky about selling...

Thanks for the heads up on the pod filter, chris g. I should've realised, with the engine bay so, well... full, that I'd be intaking hot air.

Swapped the air box back in, checked out the panel filter while I was in there. Looks like it already has an AFM K&N panel in there.

I think I'll fabricate a cold air intake in the future, when I have a free weekend.

jap-gt, you're probably best to head to ozvr4!

Maxie, yeah keep the stock intake setup. I'd suggest you do transfer case and rear diff oil changes as well, they are sometimes missed. Do you have AYC?
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

It's not just the heat that makes pods less effective, they tend to disrupt the flow past the MAF
