    New Guy From Manchester

Hi all, new to the site, i unfortunatly dont have a VR4 (at the mo) i have a measly pug 306, been wanting a galant since i started driving really, but couldnt afford to insure the one i want, but i should be able to in the next yr or so, so hi from me, will post pics of the pug (if im allowed), just wondering what are the service costs, mpg etc going to be roughly, and are they easy cars to work on?

    cheers

edit: PICS ARE UP IN GENERAL

If it is all motorway driving you should expect 25mpg or more. 30 is harder but possible if you have a well maintained car and are gentle on the throttle
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

80 miles a day you will be filling up every 3 days .mpg varies between owners mine does 17mpg round town and 22 - 25 on long runs , not trying to put you off the idea of a vr4 but that is alot of miles a day for a very thirsty car that needs a service 3 months (with that amount of miles) maybe think of other options even geting a diesel for the commute and a vr4 for the weekend , also if your scared of getting your hands dirty then you will have big labour costs aswell for servicing. just my thoughts

    Hi blade

    And welcome

Having just sold on my Galant VR-4 Estate I am now driving frog-mobile...

    ...306 GLX

Used for my daily commute from near Huddersfield to Oldham

Circumstances changed so I am now 'enjoying' my 306

Hope you find the VR-4 for you...

    hi there blade,
i too am in manchester area but unfortunatle i have just broken my VR4 for parts due to an accident i had, but i can rocommend the VR4 as a wonderfull car to drive and own.
I used to get 28-30 regularly on the motorway, but that was late evening driving with quite light trafficand a steady 70-75mph
round town 20 ish is normal. if you are doing lots of miles per day then they are not realy practicle as you will be sat in traffic just burning fuel for fun of it.

That said i have a volvo 850 estate 2.5 10v 140bhp and uses about the same fuel as my VR4 and is nowhere near the fun.
when ever i took the VR4 out, even just going to work (6 miles) i always got to work with a big smile on my face, set me up for the day. now that was priceless, so i will be getting back into a VR4 early next year.

anyway welcome and good luck with the hunt.

    Bye for Now!

    welcome.

    i used my vr4 for 3 days for work....................210 miles.....70miles per day...........cost me £45.

i then bought a citreon zx estate diesel......lol the vr4 just isnt practical as a everyday car for the mileage i do which isnt far off yours.

Cheers for the welcome, will look into it. Might stick with the current car for a while and see if i get a job closer to home (well when i move) i get between 30-35mpg in mine atm which is good for the engine tbh should really be getting 25-28mpg with it, but im not complaining, was just wondering which part of the forum to post the pics, ive got a photobucket acc with all the pics on there, if not will just whack em in here

    Cheers for the info guys
